Duct Tape can be used for almost anything and sometimes I believe it is used for everything.

The time I was most relieved to have duct tape: DUCT TAPE GAITERS! :D Sure, I'm walking on fresh ski tracks here, but it took well over an hour of wading through hip deep snow to get there. ;)

I really want to make a duct tape suit for my senior prom but I haven't been able to figuire out how to do it...any ideas?

go to a craft store and get a pattern.
instead of using material, cover the pattern in tape. tape all the pieces together and there ya go! Get different colors and just be creative.

I once took an entire roll and made a ball out of it and stuck a peice of webbing through it and wedged it between my door and stairs. I then proceeded to hang off of it for about 30 minutes to prove a point.

If you are patient, you can make killer duct tape wallets. It takes a while, but are very cool once finished.(lol waterproof too) My friend and I also managed to make a pair of cargo shorts with duct tape. It took 2 hours and they were uncomfortable but very neat to loook at.

About 10% of the sheath of my haul line is duct tape. I heard you are supposed to retire it when you have either 20 core shots or 20% of the sheath is duct tape. Any truth to that? 20% seems a bit low don't you think? I mean the real strength is in the core, the sheath is just for protection of the core.

Aren't there chemicals that can damage the core? I think I have heard that using duct tape on rope is a bad thing to do.

I think it was last months Outside Magazine that had a quick page about best duct tape stories.... the best was a quick one liner "I duct taped my broken hang glider while in flight".
Personally... I've used it to bandage leg gashes, prevent blisters (or cover blisters), put the heel back on a jungle boot while in the field, replace sewing when making a stuff sack, reinforcing zip-loc bags, etc. etc.

When I was doing geology survey work in Labrador we used it to seal up our clothes to keep out the flies when they got really bad. A couple of wraps arround the ankels, arround the wrists to sealing on the gloves and some more keeping the edge of the bug hat sung. At first it really looked silly but after a few days We would do anything to keep the flies out.

I must say that it works great as a bandaid or to close a wound, but taking it off when you're back in civilization is the hard part! I guess you should leave it. At some point you will become one with the duct tape.

As to its medical uses...we always carry a little bit in our first aid kits at camp when we go on hikes and stuff. I've found it works pretty well to tape over a "hot spot," before a blister develops. Taping over a blister is sketchy, especially if it has already popped. Peeling the stuff off your skin without taking loose flappers with it is pretty difficult.

I was painting the interior of my house a few weeks back and my dog came in while the paint was wet, got herself stuck in a corner, and had to back out inadvertently rubbing the wall. Being 11 years old, nasty and a constant shedder, she left a wad of hair the size of a tennis racket. So, I went in with tha duct tape and removed the hair! Voila...

I love duct tape for kid-nappings, it is so handy and fast, you don't have to wory about knots and if you put it around the ankles realy tight circulation gets cut off and running away is harder then ever.

Here is a climbing use of that wonderful stuff. I carry some stuck to the inside of my helmet. If I bail, (not likley) or have to replace/set up a rap station, I will tape the gate closed on the carabiner that I am going to bail off of. Shazam.. instant locking 'biner

I agree.
Rule 1) If its moving and its not supposed to, use duct tape.
Rule 2) If it ain't moving and its supposed to, use WD-40.
