Hi Folks,

Been a while since I've had anything good to submit. I've a few photos I like now. Here's one I like quite a bit from a recent trip to Acadia National Park, in Maine. The climber is on P1 of Old Town, at Precipice Cliffs.

Thanks for any or all input/critique/suggestions/comments.

PS, I think my monitor may be a little brighter than "standard". Anyone know a website I could go to to check?

Looks like a cool place but I see the obvious comments:

- TR
- The climber's face is hidden (bad timing?)
- The climber is at a footrest, you may have had better
action after with some muscle flexing and gripping.

Also I feel the crop too close to the talent at the bottom for
some reason, though there's no obvious flaw... Ah yes!
It feels like that becausethe talent isn't looking up or
moving up to draw my eye towards the top.

Bump.

Or is it just below reproach to photograph someone toproping?

If no-one has anything to say, I guess I can move on to another pic.

BTW - I agree about the tight crop at the bottom and the climber looking down.

I don't mind him TRing, personally. There's a lot of vicariousness involved in climbing photography viewing that leads to (possibly unintentional or unknowing) elitism. I mean, not everybody gets to see (or be, or screw) a chick leading 5.12, but enough people can TR 5.7 that they don't care to look at photos of it. Sometimes a TR can put ugly, distracting lines in a photo, but this rope runs against the dark crack (and he's technically seconding, right?), so it's really not a big deal.

But that's neither here nor there. Rant for another time.

Really, my only complaint is that the climber's head is shadowed. Maybe it's my monitor? I swear this thing is darker than my black black heart ;)

My monitor is a little dark as well, but you're right, his head really blends into the rock. I might try dodging a little in photoshop and see if it looks artificial.

Thanks for the feedback, both of you.
