Anyone else think it would be nice to have the forum posts sorted by date descending, instead of ascending, so most recent posts display on top?
Or maybe add it as a feature or user preference?

Yes, I certainly do, but I don't always want it. When I first go to a topic I want to read it from oldest to newest post, but thereafter I want newest-oldest.
The next version of the forums software we use gives you the option to sort. We are still working on installing that but it's not as easy as you might think because the rest of the site is so tightly integrated with it. Could be a while.
