I don't know about weird names, but two of my favorite moves to use as a routesetter are... "Rose move"*: a deep cross-through, where your head actually passes under your high arm "Campus lock-through": C. Danielson's name for a "mission impossible" type spinning campus lockoff move. Hard to describe but awesome to both climb and set. *A "Rose" move can also refer to when Magnus does something really gay in attempt to score some man-ass.

Some funny names in Spanish that greatly differ from English: - Figure four: "Yaniro" - Drop-knee: "bicicleta" - Layback: "bavaresa" I still don't know why a Gaston is called Gaston... Gaston Rebuffat, perhaps?... ah, I just checked and that seems to be correct.

I knew that a comment on a rose was going to come up. Dynos are fun, but my favorite weird move is the fig.4- it's just so useless in free climbing. Fun, though.

I really like hand/foot matches and mantles the names aren't very funny, but the moves are fun, and can be fun to watch people figure out that they have to put their foot where their hand is.

In fact it's called a dulfer in french.

There is or was a video on Dr. Topo of a girl working out a crazy boulder sequence using a bunch of figure 4s because she couldn't do the long reaches. They use them a lot in mixed climbing from what I can tell.

There was one contrived indoor problem that you could use one on- just as efficient as some of the other awkward things you could do.

The Rock Hump. For when a simple mantle would be too graceful and fluid Or You're shit scared and just happy to get onto a ledge Or You just want to demonstrate to the onlookers below how much you "love" Rock Climbing.

It can be a useful move whenever you don't have anything to put your feet on and a good hold for your hand.

I still have straight shafted axes with leashes :) (Am going to buy some nu 1's...)

"tricksy" was a move needed to complete a lieback problem at our local gym. The foot chip was so high and small that the only way to stick it for most people was to lock off with one hand, and use the other hand to pick and place the other foot precisely onto the jib

My friend was one trying a problem with an awkward mantal and he would have to bump his foot about 5 or 6 inches along a sloping rail by tugging delicately on his heel loop.
