This is my second season climbing with the trango scorpions and I find that the notches on the top of the pick work against me when trying to remove a placement. Does anyone else have this problem?

c4c, Those notches are there to help when you're steinpulling or trying to execute any number of weird dry-tooling moves. If you don't like them file them off.

Thanks Mal, I really like these tools. That is exactly what is happening, they lock in place when I am trying to get them out, Maybe I just need to modify my placements? or maybe I will file them off. It really tires me out on the steep ice, trying to get it out.
Will Trango continue to manufacture picks for this tool even though it was discontinued? Or should I pick up a bunch of replacements?

c4c,
I think it's always a good idea to have a bunch of extra picks lying around, if for no other reason than to help with resale value. I like to keep pick around for quite a few years. We still have Captain Hook/Madame Hook picks in stock and we discontinued those 3 years ago.
Regarding the teeth on top, since it sounds like you're mostly climbing ice, I'd file /em off.
