Well, I just found out that the university here in Pueblo, CO has a climbing wall that is open to the public for four hours, four nights a week. My question is this. Does $50 for 15 four hour sessions of climbing sound good? I have no idea what other gyms cost. Jim

Hey Jaydoc, it sounds to me like you're getting the shaft on that one... What if you don't use your full four hours of a session? Sounds like you still have to pay for it. Better to find a prog. With unlimited access monthly, that way, if you just want to stop by between school and work/work and home or whatever, you can do that. AW

Let me clarify. For $50 I get a punchcard with 15 punches on it. The wall is open from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday thru Thursday. So I can use the punches whenever I want. (When the wall is open of course). I'm kind of stuck because it's the only wall in Pueblo for now. Maybe I'll just build my own.

it depends on the quality of climbs, but it's pretty good. It's about 3 bucks for four hours, that's not bad. At my school, they have a REALLY REALLY crappy wall and they charge 3 bucks a night, but it's only open 3 hours a night. It's also only open four nights a week. BUT you can buy a bulk package of $30 for an entire quarter, which is 10 weeks. Then it's really cheap. It comes down to this: If it's worth it for you, then go for it. If you're going to feel like you got shafted, then it's not worth it. I didn't buy the bulk package at my school, instead I go about once every other week to the wall here and I go outside with my friend a lot more than we used to. Plus, the buildings around here make for some GREAT buildering, and that's free . There's this one place where you can chimney, climb a face and either use small crimpers or an arete (the arete is much easier). There's even a kind of crack there, but it's really hard, it's shallow and offwidth. And that's all 1 wall! It's a lot of fun.

I pay $12.00 for a whole day. With $50.00 I can get a five punch pass. Hope this helps! William

I pay $50 a month for unlimited access but I have to pay for rental equitment too. It is kinda expensive, but it is a huge place. It is the biggest climbing gym on the east coast. It is a sweeet place so I will pay the extra money.

Is that like a punch pass where you can use it for ten sessions anytime, or is it per month? That makes a big difference. If its anytime, then I think its a great deal because you can use it occasionally and not feel obligated to climb indoors. If its per month, then you have a different story because you feel like you have to get your money's worth.

Yeah, My 39 bucks is based on a 6 month membership, otherwise it's 50 something dollars per month. It's great gym though, I think it is money well spent Jeff

Thanks for all the beta. From what I can see, it looks like I'm paying, on average, close to what others are (although it's not that great a wall).
