Mid way through a two hour bouldering session at my local gym I noticed pain in my wrist. I first noticed this pain while resting between problems. The pain feels like a minor tendon sheath tear...but I am not sure; I have not seen an orthopod. The problems I was specifically working that day were dynamic and openhanded in nature V5-V6. The pain is most obvious when I bend my wrist backward slightly and use my index or middle finger (pulling them downward towards the inside of my wrist). This is just vexing. I still have complete grip strength. Possibilities in my mind are: carple tunnel, wrist tendonitus, tenosynovitis. Has anyone out there had similar issues? :(

Sounds like you may have injured the flexor digitorum superificialis or profundus tendon. Did you ice it? You should ice and take anti-inflammatories immediatly after injuring things. It may be too late now. You may need to rest it. It's hard to tell how bad it is just reading about it. If it's really bothering you, you can just go to a physical therapist. They're probably cheaper than an orthopod who will probably just refer you to a PT (unless you need the referral for PT). You should take care of it now before you climb on it and make it chronic tendonitis.

Thanks for the imput. I rested it four five days using copious amounts of vitamin "I", Ice, and compression. Once the pain went away I used mild stretching to regain range of motion. Thanks again. :D I'm going to Smith this weekend!!

If you're going to climb on it at Smith, I would suggest that along with ameerose's advise, that you also tape it. Advil and taping before climbing have been a god send for me!
