I've noticed that consistently, right at 2AM Pacific Time, the website goes down (generic IE "website is temporarily unavailable" message). Is this a schedules reboot of the system or something? I first noticed it happening about a month or so ago, and have been meaning to ask about it every time it happens, but of course I can't because the website it down and I don't ever remember to do so the next day. In this case, the site was back up in 15 minutes, but usually it lasts longer and I take it as my cue to go to bed  .

In reply to: I've noticed that consistently, right at 2AM Pacific Time, the website goes down (generic IE "website is temporarily unavailable" message). Is this a schedules reboot of the system or something? Yes, this is when the nightly database backups occur. In order to keep the tables consistent, I shut down the webserver and dbmail server (no writing to the database during the five minutes or so the backup takes) and then bring it up again immediately afterwards. I'm putting in a second server in the next week or so (for staging and development) and will run that as a read slave of the main database, so this interruption will be going away fairly soon (probably mid-August). One of our hosting customers, as it happens, exactly covers the additional fee for rc.com to rack another 1U with their monthly service payment. So, while you should go to sleep once in a while, don't plan your circadian rhythm around the server for too much longer. :-)
