Is it a good idea to use oval shaped biners instead of asymmetric "D"s on the rope end of "trad" draws? Just a thought. I'm using Dovals.

Dude just put a Crab on and clip it!! With the exception of those key chain jobs, you're not going to find a biner that won't get the job done!!!
I use wire gates simply because they are lighter...

I prefer ovals for trad draws, by which I assume you mean extendable, but everyone is different.
I can look down at my rack or waist and grab a 'trad' draw if I know I will need to extend or a sport if it is a straight up crack.

Ovals?!?!?
Way to heavy brutha man.... save the ovals for aid. Most ovals have smaller strengths over some of the "newer" carabs
IMO, If you are going to make trad draws/runners get a mixture of bent & straight gate carabs.. It really doesn't matter much I use BD neutrinos... wire gate and light. It makes a noticible difference if you have a rack of 20-30 carabs.

Any old biner will get the job done. If you are looking to save some cash and don't mind the extra weight then ovals are fine. Use the cash you save to buy the after climb drinks.

Yeah try to go lighter weight with some of the smaller 'biners. Any kind will work. I generally use some variation the asymetrical D 'biner b/c they will sometimes "right" themselves when cross-loaded. Try it yourself by cross-loading one with your fingers and you'll see what I mean. As stated above, BD neutrino's are great. I've also got some tiny blue OP wiregates that are nice, but I don't remember the exact name. However, if you ae low on $, any type of 'biner will work.
