My family is planning a vacation for july. I live in Pennsylvania and we can go pretty much anywhere along the east side of the country except for far down south (we're driving so I don't want it too far away) What would be a really good place to go bouldering at within this area? I was thinking Boone? The Gunks? not quite sure. Where would you go?

I love the SOUTH EAST. I think it is the most underrated climbing area in the country. Probably the biggest most popular destiation is the Red River Gorge Near Lexington Kentucky. It is huge, and the climbing is for the most part sport and stellar. There is some trad as well. If you are a trad enthusiast though, i'd have to say you should go to Chatanooga Tennessee. It is a hardcore Traditional area, and the cracks are some of the highest quality I have ever seen. The Tennessee Wall, is probably my favorite. Suck Creek canyon, and Sunset park are also near by. The Lost Wall is in Georiga about 45 minutes south of chatannooga, and it has some awesome bouldering and a Good Trad Wall. This is getting long, and i haven't even touched the carolinas. If you want some more south east info, by all means let me know. Travis

Both the Red and Chattanooga are god spots to hit. I've also have been told that the bouldering in Boone is great.
