Hello All, I am debating on what holds I should get for bouldering. I am looking for pretty good sized holds, and I want them to be be pinches or slopers (not huge, just larger than normal). I am looking at So Ill, which are awesome. Nicros, which have some good stuff, and also Voodoo. Which ones and which set would you prefer. I have been looking at nicros a lot just becasue I can get a better deal on them than the others. What's the Jurrasic hold set like?? Thanks Stephen

hey kansas.... you hit the three that i would recommend above all others. i just got the entire jurrasic series in december and they are awesome. i can't remember the name of the largest of the 5, but it is amazing. i got the large font hold from them "mont simonet" and it is super. voodoo are great and can't go wrong. so ill are also cool. i got the dr. peter flow and the new age font ones (can't remember the name) in november. fantastic. dan c. at so ill is a really great guy, too. let me know how it goes. r.r.

our gym picked up a bunch of the voodoo holds, they're pretty nice, especially the dual texture ones - slick in some places but grippy in others.

The Voodoo slopers are ultra-sweet. The UGA gym got a package a couple of months back, and I've been hanging and hanging and CRUSHING off of them non-stop. Big enough to get good friction, open handed, slap-happy, wonderful -- those are the adjectives I'd use. I keep meaning to build a mini-woody for campusing, using these holds exclusively. sick hand strength + explosive power I'd go with the Voodoo.

pusher has some sweet slopers, too. my top 3 would have to be... voodoo (they're soooo good, excellent quality) pusher so ill not a big fan of nicros...but their jurassic set is neato (i think jason kehl had a hand in designing those holds, but im not really sure) nicros doesn't have much variety when it comes to slopers, but that's just my opinion...i like stone age and entreprises...good texture, lots of choices for slopers if anything, check out all of the manufacturer's websites or catalogs...happy hunting! oh, and i hope your wall turns out awesome, too!

I like the cobble holds from synrockholds.com. These holds are more like a ceramic than a plastic. Very good texture. I think any slopey-shaped hold by this company is phenomenal. Only disadvantage is their weight so shipping is a bit much. I also like slopers from: Pusher So Ill Voodoo

Definitely: Voodoo So Ill Stoneage Etch also looks like they make some nice holds. Pusher has some great shapes...but I have heard HORRIBLE reports of their customer service...orders wont show up for months, and my local gym got a bunch of defective holds from them...so be careful.

pushers are good also but our gym took awhile to get them in but they were worth it. Franklin are making some sick @$$ holds. I like the Dirty Dana or Diana, Basterd and couple others we have in the gym. So Ill is good and if you can get a package deal i would go all So Ill

I bought a 65pack of Metolius holds from Mountaingear.com for $100 that I'm happy with. I was going to order a set from SoILL, but their website is a pain in the @ss to use, and I even have a high-speed connection. Too much flash sh1t! Less is more!

one thing my friends and i are doing is buying one of our favorite sets and then making our on by pressing them into this special mold and they turn out really cool....that way you can buy a cheap set and mold them into a stronger substance and have cool hand and foot grips.

For hand holds.. im all about Teknik (Zoe and Seth have done a GREAT job with these!), Friction, Pusher, Nicros, Metolius (the jumbo packs) etc. I have also bought a ton of holds off Dan at Xcilver (check on http://cgi6.ebay.com/...ce=-1&sort=3&rows=50Ebay) and mostly use his for filler holds (foot holds mainly) as they are inexpensive. Next im looking into some larger slopers and more technical holds. I seem to be maxin' out on the smaller stuff. Will likely be giving Teknik a call. http://www.gruvy.com/stuff/smallwall.jpg

BEFORE YOU GO BUYING HOLDS AT FULL PRICE, GIVE THE COMPANIES A CALL AND ASK FOR SECONDS (HOLDS THAT ARE MESSED UP BUT ARE STRUCTURALLY SAFE) OR WORSE ( ASK FOR THE MESSED UP BLOBS OF PLASTIC THEY HAVE). ONE OF THE GYMS I GO TO, FILLED UP THEIR REVENUE WITH SECONDS AND HAVE SOME OF THE MOST UNIQUE HOLDS YOU COULD EVER TRY TO FIND. THEY GYM JUST CALLED UP A FEW OF THE BIGGER HOLD COMPANIES AND TOLD THEM TO FILL UP A CERTAIN SIZE BOX OF HOLDS AND NEGOCIATED PRICES FROM THERE.

YOu should get some Voodooholds. They have slopers, pinches, sloper pinches, and every other hold you can think up. They are moderatly priced, and are good for long sessioning.
