I recently visited a very good American website about a climb I hope to do on Mount Kenya in the summer. However in the recommended gear section it talked about needing single and double slings. Not sure what lengths they are talking about. In the UK we generally talk about 4ft, 8ft and 16ft slings refering to their circumference. I would imagine a single sling would be 8ft and a double 16ft but could anyone clarify. The website is below and the equipment list is right at the bottom of the page. http://www.cosleyhouston.com/kenya-route-description.htm Cheers, Toby.

I believe a single sling would be a 4 foot runner (meaning a total length of 2 feet or shoulderlength) when in a closed loop. The double sling is what you call the 8 foot sling (4 foot total lenght when in closed loop). Hope that helps V
