Skiing in Arctis Expes

Well, I just skiied last weekend for the first time in my Arctis Expes on a glacier approach. Previously I had used the Verticals for similar endeavors and had no problem. However, the insole in the Arctis Expes rode up the back of my heel, placing the front of the insole in the ball of my foot, and creating some mighty blisters on both feet. Has anyone had a similar problem, and if so, how did you cure it? I was thinking of putting super glue between the insole and the bottom of the bootie, anyone tried this?

I got custom liner booties for $5 a while back. My foot does not slide in these. Look up the thread on Intuition liners. Before customs, skiing was not fun at all, nor was hiking- because of all the sloppy movement. Now I can run 6 miles in my boots no sweat.

Are those Intuition liners as warm as the Expe liners?

Intuition Liners are made from a moldable, baked product called Thermoflex. The Arctis Expe uses a liner made from Aveolite. Both products have been tested and show similar R values per thickness. Both Avelolite and Thermoflex are substantially warmer than the Thinsulate used in many boots such as the Koflach Degree.

Have you considered getting ski boots and climbing in them, instead of skiing in the climbing boots?

I have Scarpa Lasers and feel comfortable leading WI3 in them. I don't think I'd feel nearly as confortable skiing in climbing boots though I haven't tried -- my setup has Dynafit bindings.

My Intuitions weigh 20 oz less than a pair of stock Expe liners. The warmth is not even close, the Intuitions are sooooooooooo much warmer. The difference in performance is even greater. I don't see how anyone would want stock liners, when inexpensive customs are available.

Intuitions are the warmest boot liners made for plastic double boots. noticably warmer than any alveolite liner I have used.
