hey all, ok so we've heard about how awfull cliffhanger and vertical limit were thousands of times! was just wondering which movie you find the best and most inspiring??? personally I really liked "the pilgrimage" for climbing and "touching the void"...oh and "K2" was killer too... but yea i've seen a bunch of other modern bouldering dvds including the dosages, rampage etc... although they had some fantastic climbing in inspiring locales..i felt the pilgrimage had something more..it had heart..and feeling and a kind off personal touch, where i realy got to know the climbers....just my thoughts... cheers, arjun

I agree Pilgrimage is one of my favorite climbing videos. I also thought Front Range Freaks was pretty good. As for Hollywood I think the best climbing video made was probably Touching th Void or maybe perhaps Eiger Sanction.

Touching the Void was a great movie/documentary and i've seen bits and pieces of the pilgrimage which also seemed good, can't really speak on it though

Sorry I have to disagree with Colorado Daydream. I thought it was way over produced, bad choice of effects, and played way too much on the trippy theme. I haven't seen many videos but at the top of my list are Pilgrimage and Dosage vol. 1

Splitter. Great FA footage, humor, a distinct lack of the stereotypical techno/punk/let's-do-what-everyone-else-is-doing soundtrack... interesting stuff, even for non-climbers. Definitely worth buying, let alone watching. https://store.primediamags.com/...ewProduct?pm_id=8316

I would have to agree with the others that Pilgramage is a very good video. i found it a little slow at some points, but the climbing was really good. Also Rampage and Autoroute are cool road-trip movies. Touching the void was great, but falls into the mountaineering category as opposed to bouldering and/or sport climbing. in the mountaaineeing category, touching the void would take the prize I would have to put my money on Pilgramage as well.

Whenever I want to get fired up, I watch "Uncommon Ground." I love that film. It's just about the climbing. Good soundtrack, too.

Touching the Void was the best "Hollywood" climbing movie. As a pure climbing movie Big Stone was awesome too.

Autoroute fer sure. All the dudes in it are cool and have great senses of humor. Of course the climbing is great too. Some of the guys in a lot of rock climbing videos I have seen are straight geeks and it kills the enjoyment of watching the vid.

either uncommon ground or the big up gunks video. sure, lotsa the videos out there are sweet, but theirs nothing like watching a video and saying "ive done that!", or "i been there!". gives videos that little extra something...

If you haven't seen it, go rent The Eiger Sanction. I would love George to be my trainer. It has some of the best one liners too. "her's to killers, and patriotic whores" and my favorite "We will probably not make it, but we will continue in good style" Clint Eastwood is the man.

I love the Eiger Sanction! I'm a big Ford Bronco fan, too, so that is part of it. Clint Eastwood was definitely a hardman in that movie! Fighting for first in my book is Seven Years in Tibet. Sweet! I survived, but the editing and spinning nose cam on Touching the Void nauseated my friends. Good story, though. I just finished watching Vertical Frontier. At first I was thrown off by Tom Brokaw narrating, but once the film gets to the point where people were still alive to interview, most of the sound is their voices. I otherwise enjoyed the movie, and I want to go to Yosemite now more than ever. Everest: 50 Years on the Mountain is in my keeper collection, too.
