Well i was there this weekend ( i was in Vegas to climb ) but of course it decided to rain and its a little hard to climb when its Hailing up in the Mnts. Anyway we went to the gym and it was nice besides the fact that some of the routes NEEDED cleaning SO bad and were almost a year old. And for leading you had to use a gri-gri which to me makes it harder on both the belayer and the climber... ATC is the way to go and have more control over the climbing. Anyway that climbs were alright and but upper decks of boulders were good but the double taping and SO many problems with the same colors just drove me crazy... that would never fly in our gym. But i had a good time at the gym i just hope if we get rain next year for Red-Rocks and we have to go to the gym that the routes will be a little different and cleaned better. But it was a good gym for bouldering.

well...change is in the air for Powerhouse, which is probably why the routes havent changed much lately. the other gym in town- NV Climbing Centers is much better- routes are changed frequently and are of high quality. ATC's are allowed for the lead area, but grigri is required for TR's.

This is where I had my first comp, and am going to one on Saturday (30th). It's pretty cool with a HUGE lead cave with lots of routes, and has two little bouldering caves. Some of the shapes are interesting, and the new change of staff is nice and kind. They have some cool traverses (at least in 2003), and I think some of the lead routes at the comp are gonna be awesome (I know the setter, he's been setting at Nevada Climbing Centers;just set an awesome 5.12a/b). Can't wait.

In reply to: Well i was there this weekend ( i was in Vegas to climb ) but of course it decided to rain and its a little hard to climb when its Hailing up in the Mnts. The weather didn't stop me and my partners from going upwards in Red Rock Canyon. Yeah, we deproached a bit soon on Saturday, due to a thunderclap that felt right on top of us, but otherwise did an average of 8 pitche a day.
