I love the west, the open landscapes define me. There is no where else I would rather be/climb. Is there anywhere else in the world that comes close to the Western USA? I'm comparing foreign countrys too. I've been to SE asia 2 times climbing(lao, T-land) and, S. America 1 (Pat. Mendoza, Bolivia)

Anywhere but flat ass Florida, I do love the West as well. It is actually cheaper for me to fly out west than it is to drive up to MN, WV, Tenn, etc. But that is still a broad statement.

I've been a lot of places, and in terms of the perfect place to live it's gotta be either Colorado or the southwest. In terms of vast open landscapes and sheer beauty, there are parts of Africa that can definitely compete with the Western USA. But usually there are good reasons for not wanting to live in such places (politics, poverty, etc...). New Zealand is awesome for the outdoor lifestyle. Antarctica might start looking good when global warming kicks in a bit more (some great crags...) Having spent a good chunk of my life in Europe I know that's not for me. Asia is fun to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Same goes for much of South America. hmmmmm,.... so I need to stop dreaming and move west NOW!!!!!!!

I like the west a lot, but then I've never been east, or very many other places, really. ;)
