In reply to: I just got a brand new Blue Water rope and I was wondering which end I tie in on? Thanks! are u serious? If so, don't tie in at all. Go seek climbing instruction from someone experienced. if u aren't serious, what unabonger said.

ignore the snide stupid comments! it doesn't matter which side you tie into, if you use the same side all the time though it will wear out a whole lot faster than the other one, just use whichever side you can get ahold of first. Peace D

I think the snide comments are quite justified in this situation...If you don't know enough about ropes and climbing to know that it doesn't matter which end of the rope you tie into...you need to get some more instruction. I'm not trying to be a jerk or look down upon you getting into climbing (everybody had to start somewhere), but for your safety make sure you know what you're doing.

Dear Nolan14, Many times, climbers will cut their rope over a sharp edge, often in a lead fall. However, it really depends on why you want to cut the rope. If you lead a lot of wandering routes, you may wish to cut the rope length-wise to make what the climber-folks here call a "half rope". Two half ropes can be clipped into alternating pieces of protection, and it's great because when you get to the top, you can join the two halves and rappel down on the pair. If you still aren't sure which end to tie into, tie into both of them. Have two belayers, one off each end. Then you don't have to worry if you tied into the wrong one, because someone will catch you. Also, please post here on rc.com before you go out climbing anywhere. We'll all be sure to stay away.

Also, did I read your other post right? You're a sport climber? But you've also got a rack? Please don't tell me you've done any trad leading. Or sport leading. Or belaying.
