Anyone have recommendations on quickdraw dogbones in the 7" or 8" range? I'm looking to upgrade the webbing on a few of my quickdraws for wandering sport climbs. I've looked a bit, but I haven't seen any of them on the market that use any of the thinner webbing on the market and are longer than 4". I've got a couple heliums that just look like they would be loaded wrong with my older style nylon dogbones.

THe petzl bones are nylon, but they taper at the ends, so being to wide shouldn't be a problem. Also, I have noticed that the wider nylon bones tend not to get twisted as much as the thin spectra ones

Wow, really? Wouldn't have joked about it if I'd known others might not get some  sorry about that. I think these normally run about $4. Also, the petzls are kind of nice if you want stiff, but I like mine to be able to twist a bit to prevent the rope from coming unclipped by pushing on the gate from the outside during a whipper (similar to what happens if you back clip), so I like the way the 11/12 mm spectra/dyneema ones are stiff lengthwise for clipping, but can twist a bit. I also have some of the BD straightjacket ones that have a little rubber loop inside the rope end, I thought I was going to end up cutting them out but I love them.

I don't like the twisting because I've looked down to see biner gates facing/touching the rock, instead of lying flat.

i'm not a big fan of the twisting either. i've got black diamond hotwire draws with the dynex dogbones and the longer ones seem to twist a lot, but most of my draws are the 12cm length and they don't twist at all because they're pretty short. regardless i still like them over the bulkier and heavier nylon draws.

In reply to: Nice, bummer only 3 left though. Con someone out in Bend to swing by Metolius and get you a matched set of seconds. They've got boxes of them where the bar tacks are a bit off or crooked and they sell them for cheap to people who walk in off the street. Last time I was over there I picked up three matched sets of ten for a total cost of $7.50 for 30. I was hanging them at Smith before lunch.

That's exactly what I was looking for as well! It's surprising I didn't notice the Metolius sale on gearexpress.com earlier, as I check there often. Let me know if you guys know of any other places.
