The fast and the furious is worthless too. No offence to all the ricers but there is alot wrong with that movie.

LOL! i knew this thread was about Mullholland Drive before i even clicked on it.

I think it's for people to feel smart to say they liked it. Lynch is just messing with us..... usually i like wacked out movies but this was a little much. Even when i read in depth explanations of the movie.

Mulholland Drive is supposed to represent a dream. Watch it again with that in mind.

Better yet, watch Eraserhead... it will explain David Lynch and his movies very clearly.

Some people just can't handle david lynch. He is way too smart for your average viewer.

I try to keep both Heineken and Pabst on hand for guests because Lynch taught me that different people have different tastes.

Hey TooBig,
How very Zen of you.

I think it is facinating to see people like David Lynch and Peter Greenaway (British, watch "Cook, Thief, Wife Lover")make stories out of material that in other hands would turn out as mush. I haven't seen Mullholand Drive yet, but having seen other Lynch films, I sit with a good glass of Merlot and just enjoy the trip.

I LOVED Mulholland Drive! By far the best David Lynch. Blue Velvet was pretty good too, tho much more bizarre.

TooBig: I watched Lost Highway in the same way...trying to stay awake in front of a friend's huge screen TV...thinkin' much the same and "wow, Robert Blake is getting creepier looking the older he gets."

There is no band. Loved that...!

Vanilla Sky! Sure it was simple enough... but what didn't make sense is how it took sooooooo damn long to get through a five minute plot.

Oh yeah... does anybody know the name of Dali's film where he slits his eyeball and ants come out (or something along that line)?

I hated Vanilla Sky! It finally got good towards the end, and then when i started getting into it, it ended. while the rest of my time was wasted watching meaningless crap. i hate tom cruise anyway. another movie that was sort of meaningless and a little confusing (to my small mind anyway) was A Fish Called Wanda.

You didn't "get" A Fish Called Wanda?

Small mind is an understatement indeed!

when i said that i didn't "get" a fish called wanda, i was referring to the point of it. it is obvious, however, in topics other than this one, that you look for the worst of the situation in order to undermine other people, the reason of which i will not try to guess. and yes, pick at this post at your will, but while you are doing so, i ask that you keep in mind my inferiorities do not better yours.

I think the point of any comedy is to entertain.

That's why, in that movie, all those funny things were happening... like when Archie is talking Russian and the family walks in on his naked, skinny white ass.

Good stuff.

David Lynch's movies generally try for something more abstract and manage to hit "entertaining" along the way.

Mulholland Drive as with any of Lynches moveis makes perfect sense as long as you find the key phrases, In MD its in the first part of the second scene. The one in the diner where the guy is talking about his dreams.

Vanilla sky was pretty good, made perfect sense. As for Memento it was totally linear unlike the dirrectors first movie FOLLOWER or something like that. Totally non linear but made perfect sense.

What really doesn't make sense is when good movies have sttandard hollywood ending #6 tacked on. Minority Report I'm looking in your direction. The film is great until the end when, I won't spoli it for you, though it is transparent.
