I got fat this winter and my climbing harness doesn’t fit anymore. To remedy this problem I’ve been using a swami belt. Swami belts hurt when you are to fat to fit into your old harness.

Are you sure your harness didn't shrink over the winter? That has always been my excuse.

In the winter I usually kick my A$$ by going to the gym 2 times a week, running, lifting weights, etc! This allows me to be ready for outside once spring hits. BUT, HEY, GETTING FAT GIVES YOU ONE MORE REASON TO CLIMB!

First winter in Squamish: broke from roadtripping, no ski gear, free cable tv. March: time to hit Smith Rock. Hike in, put on harness, double back... 1/2 inch of tail. "Meh, I'm sure that's safe enough." All that extra fat was a great excuse for falling off of things.

But then, if you get stuck in a storm in alpine situations without food, you would starve more slowly - the thin ones will die out! he he....

it did rain a lot in vegas this winter you should have been pro-active and did some ski touring since all that rain fell as snow in the mountains no better way to stay fit during winter anyway if you are a boulderer why NDL would you need a harness

I find that cutting out the beer and sticking to the hard stuff over the winter is a great way to cut down on the winter weight gain. Another way to help keep off the pounds is to sit further away from your fridge, and if at all possible try to incorporate a flight of stairs on the way to refill your drink. It's great for the cardio. It also doesn't hurt to hit you local gym from time to time.

I don't get it - what help are you seeking? People to buy you a harness? Diet tips?

We're not talking super fat dudes here. remember that they have to be able to climb still. So even a fat climber is still sorta in shape by normal person standards. I'm probably a fat climber, since I'm 5'7 and 180.

It's cool, apparently Human tastes of Chicken. So humans can be considered the other other other white meat. (except that we're more like beef) So the commercial could go "Human, the other red meat"

I gained a little weight this winter in my ass and legs but I think it's muscle. Regardless, I always slim down more in the spring and summer. I'm active in the winter but with the days being longer and the nights being warmer, idle time is not something I have much of. Being so active keeps my metabolism high.
