Trip to Minnesota

I am taking a trip to Edina, Minnesota with my roommate, who doesn't climb, June 27 - July 6 and was wondering how much bouldering is in the area. I already found Taylor Falls and am going to try and get out there at least once. Also I am not opposed to pulling on plastic, so any suggestions for gyms in the area are welcome. I am trying to keep my trips at the most 1 1/2 hours from Minneapolis. Thanks

Ryan

I live just south of minneapolis and if your interested in some great gym climbing look Vertical Endeavours in St. Paul its 13 bucks for a daily pass and you can leave and come back whenever you want. If you wanted to do some sport climbing Barn Bluff in Red Wing is awesome but if your just looking for bouldering i'd definitely recommend VE. Taylors Falls is awesome that'd be my first choice

Agree that Red Wing is a great sport climbing spot. Close to the twin cities as well. Not sure where Edina is, but if its near the twin cities, its within your limit.

Check out www.minnesotaclimbing.com for beta on local bouldering and/or the St. Paul VE.

I'm in Min. now and wouldn't mind climbing at VE tonight or tomorrow night, anyone out there willing to entertain a Canuck?

Red Wing's Barn Bluff--great sport routes! Because they are solid sandstone routes, a 5.12 can seem like a 5.10 due to tremendous friction that makes it easy to stay on the wall.

If you're looking to check out more, I would recommend Shovel Point along the North Shore of Lake Superior. 150- to 200-foot cliffs off of the lake.

Vertical Endevours is the best gym in MN and perhaps one of the country's top gyms. VE is in St. Paul and isn't easy to find, but worth the venture.

Since I was born & rasied in Edina I feel the need to defend our honor. Be proud that your wife is from the land of "Cake eaters". I don't know when our derogatory terms changed, I've been gone 20 years, but there are so many imports there now they may be squewing our reputation !

PS Taylors Falls is a great place to take a beginner climbing. I'm sure that Curt probably had his humble beginings right there !

Good to see that "Cake-eaters" is still current....I'm a Stillwater (or "Stagnantwater" as some have said) boy and just can't resist taking a jab at our silver-spoon-wielding neighbors! Stillsville, though, HAS taken a definite turn to yuppification....

And yes, I believe TF was curt's "original sin"...

Wow. I didn't know Edina had any honor. Thanks for letting me know. Oh shoot! You live in Florida too. In case you're wondering I live in...(let me think)...Key West.

Ya. That's it. That's the ticket. Key We[indigo]s[/indigo][violet]t[/violet].
My name is John Doe. Ya. That's it. John Doe.

Come and get me EDINA boy! I'll throw a foo foo cookie at you.

p.s.
Just kidding, BTW. Please understand I'm just a brat originally from West Bloomington. I mean no harm.
