Gear update: Bought helmet, nut tool, cordinig for nut tool, 14 more ft of cordelette, lots of webbing for anchor building(Mainly for TR), more locking biners, and a few slings. I have seconded routes before but my main concern was ropemanagement and transistion from climber to belayer on muti pitch's where anchors are at the wall an not on a ledge... reading to me is never the same as doing. Any way plan for the weekend...arrive thursday night or early fri morning. Meetup for climbing with whom ever fri learn as much as possible. Jump in with a group sat for a good long route with some beautiful views. Leave Sunday evening sometime.

In reply to: In reply to: So it now looks like y attendance this weekend is not so certain after all. mine either. I don't think it will be worth it. I'll get to the camp around 2am which will only give me 4 or 5 hours of sleep after a VERY long day. Also, I doubt I'll be able to find anyone who wants to climb what I am capable of doing (I was actually thinking you would be the perfect partner for me). oh well. Jeff, I'm still debating. Kim wants me to go, I just feel guilty leaving her with three kids and 5 tons of concrete in the yard that I SHOULD be assembling into a retaining wall. I'd totally cruise with you for a day but you said you wanted a leader and I'm no 5.6 trad leader. I'd do a couple pitches of 5.3 or 5.4 with bolted belays perhaps but I have no business building gear anchors without some ground school first. Give me a day to wrestle my demons and see how I'm leaning. If I go then I'm more than happy to spend the day as your second on 5.casual.

Chad, no worries. I'm really not planning on doing much leading, if any, so that could further complicate my finding a partner (it sounds like there will be an overabundance of seconds there). Thus, the probability of my attendance is looking bleaker and bleaker, so don't feel obligated to go on my account. Kathy, happy birthday biotch. suck down a long hard yard like we all know you can. I'm still not smiling though.

Well, happy birthday. Have a couple for me tonight. Sorry I didn't know you were out last night Kevin. Rob, Lam and I were at Purgatory. Rob gave a great report earlier about that. I am looking to join people for evening climbs this week. Can't go tonight, but otherwise I can meet people anywhere. Also, I have a flight out to CA at 6 on Saturday, but would be wanting to go someplace local on Saturday morning if anyone else is available. Is anyone interested in climbing Wednesday at Crow Hill? Dan

In reply to: ... Kim wants me to go... dude, there's your answer. guilting yourself out of going is simply playing the martyr. trust me , I'm an expert. GO. don't be dense. you know absolutely my commitment to my famobs, and the MANY times I've bailed, sometimes, doing for one's self is okay. FOr you going this once, just doing this ONE THING for yourself, especially with your wife's generous encouragement, isn't going to hurt your family. AT ALL. there will be ZERO Karma deficit. ...And don't worry, the concrete will still be there when you get back. Oh Harsh BTW, Happy Bday.

Dan. I am up for something early on Sat. almost anywhere. Good news. Since I am changing jobs I have a lot of vacation pay so it is time to start building a rack. I have ordered a set of nuts and cams to start with and then I will add to it once I have a better idea of what I need/ like. I will need to practice, practice, and then practice some more. I have had a chance to place some gear during a class but if anyone is going trad climbing and they don't mind a tag along please let me know. I would like to second to start with so I can learn. Hope everyone has fun this weekend. Dan just let me know what works for ya. Happy B-day Harsh. Have a few shots for me. Erik

In reply to: Oh BTW, I am planning on leading too. the Terror calls me, it's siren's voice undeniable and irresistable... I would gladly be your second up until you leave on Sunday. We could even drag a third with us (read: CHAD) and do a long route on Whitehorse which I may even lead a few pitches for (like the one I mentioned several posts ago). Do we have a deal?

Ok Harsh, I got a count of 6 so far... counting 2 for a "couple" and 3 for a "few". Have one for me and one for mini Vaughn too!! That should put you up to 8, 2 more and you can start counting over again! Where's the salt, where's the GD salt?? Happy birthday!!! Cheers, Holly- aka the Beer Wench p.s. Wide, getyurbutt up there this weekend. Rob's right, the concrete will still be there when you get back and you're not likely to have the opportunity again! Enjoy it! If not for you, then for me. 8^)

Happy 1K!!!! Plus a few. I've been out of town all weekend at a family thing and everytime I tried to sign on here I got shut down. I think it gagged on the thousand pages. Ok, heres the scoop on teh weekend. Jeff, no problem here when you arrive, chances are fair that folks will still be up anyways. If everyone is snoring, either flop on a couch or hunt around till you fing an empty bed. I'm glad to climb with you. Ishouldknowbetter and I will be climbing ??? on Saturday, SG sounds like fun for SUnday. I've got the half ropes so there is no problem with three. FWIW, these are all single bunkbeds. You need to bring your own sleeping bag and towels. In answer to some PM'd questions, Yes, there is hot water and electricity. It's a regular house, not a Una-bomber shack. QQ was asking about food, whether folks wanted to buy/bring their own or commune it. What we usually do when there are more than one group up there that belongs to the club is just commune it. Sort of a schmorgash board thing. There is a grill in the back. But that is jsut a suggestion. If you spent a week taking your SO into making your favorite whatever and don't want to share thats ok. We won't talk to you for the rest of the weekend but thats ok. I need to leave on Sunday evening and need to close up the club when I go. Club rules, there needs to be a member there with guests. Hope that doesn't wreck anyones plans, I don't thingk I mentioned that earlier. THere are plenty of spots up the road to dirt dog it if you want to staylonger

Well then...seeing there is so much interest in my slab plans, I guess I gotta go now. Looks like we'll have several parties hogging the slabs. I also have half ropes so I am equipped for threesomes if need be. I would like to stay until Monday, so if anyone wants to tent it with me, lemme know via PM and we'll make arrangements. I know of a great campsite about 15 minutes from Cathedral/Whitehorse that is always empty. Other than that, I guess that is it. See y'all around 2am this Sunday! Paul, you better save me a bed so I don't have to wake everyone up looking for one. Also, can you PM me yer cell? Oh, and have a cold beer ready for me, or I'll start waking asses up for real.

I'll climb S-G with you guys. So that makes 4 on S-G for Sunday. I'm not sure but I think Handren called it a wandering, contrived, POS. Sounds like it should be a blast. I really want to get on THin Air and Upper Refuse, but expect the hoards of unwashed masses (Oh, wait a second, I thing I'm partially responsible for this weekends influx of said masses. Damn.) to make that a wish. We'll see. PTN

In reply to: I'm not sure but I think Handren called it a wandering, contrived, POS looking at the book now...says "an interesting and varied climb which deserves to be more popular." I would never pick a wandering, contrived POS. That was Standard Route, and we all know what happened on that.
