I have 2 new cams that are driving me insane, specifically the #3 and #3.5 Wild Country Friend. The 3 has been royal blue since I've been climbing (8 years or so) and the 3.5 purple. Now the 3 is purple and the 3.5 is royal blue. I know they also changed some colors but this doesn't affect me as I don't have new WC in those sizes. If I only had a few cams, this would not be a problem, however I have 4 of each size. In the 3.5 there are three purple and one blue. In the 3, there are three blue and one purple. Can you see how this is irritating as all hell? It looks like wild country has tried to match some of BD's colors in the same size. Would you cut the slings off a new cam just to resling it with the tech cord of your color choosing? I've done it before on clog cams and it seems fine. There's just something that bothers me about cutting a brand new sling on a brand new top shelf cam. What would you do?

Is this the right thread to bitch about BD changing their numbering scheme to match Wild Country's? When you say '#5 BD' are you talking about the new purple or the old green, and if you say 'purple camalot' does that mean I need to bring a #4 or #5?

Send em to Yates and get them reslung with your color choice of spectra. Crotch, that's why most people specify as camalots or C4's. I know I do.

In reply to: Crotch, that's why most people specify as camalots or C4's. I know I do. You must be climbing with a fresh crowd. I'm still struggling to get my parnters to understand that by saying to bring a number two, I mean Camalot, not Friend. They climb with Camalots, not Friends, but old habits die hard. Crotch, I feel your pain...especially when I look at the top end of my own rack in a panic of desperation.

In reply to: Crotch, I feel your pain...especially when I look at the top end of my own rack in a panic of desperation. Aaaah. The validation feels so good. I want MORE. Seriously though, green seems to go where green always went. Purple, however is a different beast. You're elbow deep in a wide fists crack with forearm opposition (theoretical problem, noone really climbs that kind of stuff) and you clutch for Mr. Purple only to find that you can't even get two lobes in the crack. Lame.

Lame. I've only purchased the grey C4, but it's a similar scene. The worst is when I have the old grey and the new grey side-by-side and pick the wrong one.

Young enough to have only C4's on my new rack. However, my partners have some older Camalots, so that's interesting size wise, above the 3. At least they kept the smaller ones the same.
