Im starting a trad rack and am not rich so im gonna try and buy some stuff every few weeks. SHould i start with some nuts or tricams.

Start with a set of nuts, you'll be able to get a lot more pieces for the money than you would with tricams. If you buy a set of nuts for $50, you might have enough pro for a short pitch to practice with. If you spend that same $50 on three tricams.....yay...you have 3 pieces of pro....can you say......"runout"... Start with the nuts, good price/pro ratio!

Grab a set of BD stoppers or ABC huevos. Although theyre 75 bucks or so a set, you get lots of pro and theyre great to begin working on placements with.

get a set of nuts and a set of hexes, that will do you great for a while. i have heard good things about the abc nuts, also bd or dmm nuts are good. i am especially pertial to the dmm nuts, they rule. go for nuts first then hexes. as for hexes, get curved ones. i recommend wc hexes

I would totally start with some BD or DMM nuts then get some tri-cams. I havent used hexes but went to cams after having used nuts for a long time. I think once you learn nut placements the rest is easier.

gearexpress.com still has smilies 7-13 for $29, add in the 4, 5, 6 for like $4.50 apiece and that is a steal. Don't forget the nut tool!
There may or may not be routes near you that you can get all the way up with only a set of stoppers, but setting lots of stoppers on the ground is the best practice you can get right now. If you have a patient belayer, take them with you on a toprope with a biner and a sling, and practice placing them efficiently from different stances and then clip the thing and stand on it, aid style, to see how it weights.
