i like the second one better because you can see the face.

apart from that id crop a but on top and left to get a better focus on the climbers and eliminate the boring rock (though there are some interesting crystals there).

and if im seeeing things correctly the focus is on that crystals and not on the climber. luckily you had good dof.

the way her body is angled I might have tried to put her in the lower left of the picture instead of the center or the slight right that she's in now. but I agree with overlord the top should be cropped and the second one is better because of her face.

the first one is a bit overcropped imho, but the second one looks cool. maybe a bit less cropping.

dont worry, youll figure it out soon enough.

btw, how did you shoot????

i was thinking "that looks like texas limestone", and it was... lol...
do I know you?

i like the light on the first uncropped one, but you have a blurred face there. The second one is better, we almost see the eyes (give us the eyes). The second pic shows some part of ground (or it feels like it) and the framing feels it is made to look the talent higher the she is, which kills the picture for me. I might be wrong, but that is how I feel. I do not like the pose at all, she is trying to pull, but the drama is not there (the eyes, damnit) etc etc. Too much rock, too less talent in both me thinks.

Tecnically, the colors and contrast are dab, I would boost them a bit. Also apply USM, the images are on the soft side.

A quick edit using auto level, curves, some minor dodge/burn, contrast, USM

you could do a better job than this of course

i take it this was edited with photoshop?

i don't have it yet, but i'll get a copy. For these shots i was actually up anchored into a bolt with my pas, leaning over... actually pissed her off when she got to the ledge because i was in the way of her lead... heheh

...she forgave me! i'm so crazy about getting photos heh. i was using a 3.25mp exilim and really... i don't know what i'm doing at all. She's a much better photographer than me, but i think we are going to take a class together. Thanks for the effort and feedback! Super rad - and the edited picture really give me toooo much credit! i agree, i like the light in the first... and i realize how important the face is. i have vowed to never get another butt shot again! So in this case would the photo have been more interesting had i gotten her mid throw?

i live in austin, not sure if you do know me?! i hang with Ralph Vega - Gus Clemens - John Gonzales.... i used to work at ARG about a year and a half ago, but i do still set routes there. i'm in the greenbelt a ton too~ Hit me up

back to focus. Thanks again for the feedback - any and all is welcome! i look forward to brainstorming more pics here!
