I just moved to Augusta, Maine from upstate New York and am suffering from climbing withdrawal! So I'm looking for someone to show me the nearby local crags, maybe in the Camden or Clifton areas (?)

I've got a 50m rope, a basic trad rack, and plenty of short draws if there are sport routes on anyone's agenda. I am a relatively new trad leader, but feel comfortable leading up to easy 5.7. I can follow up to 5.9. Top-roping or sport climbing I clock in the mid 10s or maybe an 11 on a good day. Competent and attentive belayer.

PM me if you'd like to climb this weekend (7/16-17/05). Thanks! :D

Why in Gods name would want to move to Augusta Maine?! I used to live in Readfield chief and you think your jonesing for some rock now, just wait a few months!

Your best bet is going to be to head to New Hampshire on a regular basis, occasionally Acadia. You will hate Camden if you have moved from upstate NY.

The seafood kicks ass!

Seriousely though, why did you relocate to Augusta? I grew up there.

P.S.

The Hallowell Quarry will be your only local (10 minuet drive) option. Trad, or toprope only. Locals suck and could be the dumbest bunch of retards you will ever meet. You can bribe them with budweiser and the occasional dube.

I hope you did'nt move there for a woman, cuz if you did you just had a really cruel joke played on you.

I feel your pain.

zozo, thanks for the info on the quarry - i'll have to check that out as a local crag option (other than the buildering I've had to do to alleviate my withdrawal symptoms - the nearest gym is 40 mins. away even).

i moved here for a job at the VA hospital, so my stay here will likely be time limited. definitely missing easy access to the Gunks though. am planning on driving over to New Hampshire to check out the major trad areas there and possibly Rumney.

Changing the subject to bump this thread...

Anyone want to climb this weekend???
