I will be meeting a climbing partner up in Sqaumish the last weekend of Aug after a 2-week trip in Cascades. I need to rent a car to get up to Squamish from Seattle (where I will be dropped off after the Cascade trip) and then get to SeaTac for my departing flight. Car rental at SeaTac is steep because of airport surcharge. Any alternatives to renting at SeaTac (now my departing flight does leave from SeaTac)? Thanks, Al (alfred.kwok@pomona.edu)

Can't give you a specific recommendation, but did find a good comparison at http://www.bnm.com/seat.htm. One note of caution is that there may be insurance issues if you take the car out of the state/country. You should specifically verify that with the rental agency.

An Amtrak runs twice a day through Seattle to Vancouver, for about $25 one way. You could potentially ride the train and rent in Vancouver instead.

Thanks for the replies. I scored -- got a 3-day rental (Fri 11:00 pm to Mon 11:00 pm) for $65 from Budget. (I've never come across anything this inexpensive at SeaTac). I will just sleep in the airport and fly out early Tue morning. (If I was to rent from Fri 5:00 pm to Tue 5:00 am , it would have been $110 or so!)
