Vince, Chris and I are talking about doing a route on spearhead.

Looks like I will be climbing Sykes Sickle on Sat. with mingleefu. Maybe we'll see you out there?

Couple of things to take into consideration.
#1 the route you're looking to climb is on the DIAMOND!!
Dude! That is not a place to be breaking in new partners especially ones you net online.
#2 Tracy's comment about a "sea of sport climbers" is also true...the vast majority of the people on this thread aren't really inot climbing big routes. (no offense people!!)
#3 you're a pretty new climber huh? I'd think about it as I'm a very big fan of the casual...except I don't know you and from what I do know...you're alittle new to be climbing on the diamond with(as a new partner).

I hope you find what you're looking for...but be wary of what comes your way....

josh
re: #1- I know it. That's why I've told everyone who has PM'd me that I'd like to climbing something else first. Vince was the first to call me, so we found something else to have a go at.
Re: #2- I'm finding that. But I drew enough attention to myself with that last post that I've gotten the responses I needed. It just takes one..
re: #3- what exactly is it that you do know about me?? I am not a new climber. I've been climbing for just over 5 years. I'm nothing special but I'm not "new". I must have misrepresented myself somewhere. (Maybe it was my comment that "I must be looking pretty new"..?)

regarding your comment, "I hope you find what you're looking for," Has anyone else noticed that looking for new partners seems a whole lot like dating? It struck me when I had just asked some dude at REI for his number. I even felt obligated to wait 3 days before I called him so I didn't sound desperate. Also, because I'm intending to do something pretty serious (on the Diamond), I was looking to meet the partner somewhere non-threatening to test the waters before really committing (see "re: #1"). Well, I've gotten about four responses from people willing to partner up for the Diamond.. feels an awful lot like having to choose between women. Maybe there's a way to juggle it so that I don't have to choose, wink wink). Oh, and I did call the dude from REI, but he never called me back. Now I feel bad for not returning those girls' calls during college. We could've really BEEN something! *sigh...c'est la vie....

We are currently looking to be there about the 23rd thru the first week of Nov. Subject to weather and our whims. You planning a trip around that time?

AAARRRGGGHHHHHH. Too much work and not enough posts on FRCP thread makes Cindy a dull girl.

Kim and Jeremy: Keep posting the pics. The pile of drool in front of my screen is sufficiently deep enough to be shoveled. And its green - because green is the color of jealousy. Seriously, looks like you guys are having a great time and I'm deeply envious.

Hey Dave, if you and Chris feel like doing some trad this Sunday, give me a call. Work prevented me from going to Ten Sleep this weekend. I owe the two of you a trad day in Eldo or Boulder Canyon. I believe the baking request is sugar cookies?

Tim and I are planning to grab pizza and brews at Woody's around sunset on Thursday night if anyone is interested in joining us.

If anyone is wondering where Tim is, he is shacked up in my basement. His house closed the end of last month and being the BEST REAL ESTATE AGENT IN THE WORLD and an all around sorta nice gal, I offered mi casa as an interim spot until he leaves for the Czech Republic.

What a great idea! I wanna be there. Actually, I've been talking to my climbing bud, Kevin about going to Red Rocks. We can circle the RV's and have a ho down. The sort of ho down I'm referring to is not to be confused with a woman of questionable morals laying down. That's an enrtirely different sort of ho down.

Anyway, a trip the end of October would be good for my soul. After the 21st please. I have a specific climb on Redgarden planned for the 21st.

Sorry dude 5 years is still pretty new....I was more refering to your experience on the Diamond itself-originally(I know I fumbled the words abit) but 5 years is still new. SHit I've been climbing for 11 years and I'd still call myself new!!

Enjoy sykes though...

As far as people getting offended by the big routes comment....I'm not sure I really thought people would take offense...but I felt like I should say it....

Hi, I'm a relatively new female climber who is looking for partners. I live right near Thrillseekers gym in Denver and can climb there most weeknights.

I'm also interested in toproping or sport routes in the front range.

I have my own gear and I'm great to travel with. Male or female partners okay.

I took several classes at Metro, and now I'm stuck! Help, I just want to climb!

FWIW, the Barb is way better than Syckes and would be better training for a Diamond Day.

Looking to move up to Boulder / Denver within the next month or so. Anyone have a room? I come with a dog, climbing gear, and cookbooks.

Also, looking for something to do this weekend. Especially sunday, but maybe saturday to.

You may have already explained this but, at the bottom of your messages I see a short film clip of someone falling in a hole, it's funny but is there more to it ? Did you know the people, or go there? NBD

Weather permitting, Tim and I are doing the Spiral Route on Notchtop tomorrow. The weather looks bad but I imagine we'll go for it until it gets too bad to climb. If we are high on the route when the weather moves in, any suggestions on the easiest bail off point? South Ridge or NW Face? Thanks.

ms,
I can see your point, the route curves around, so if you had to rap you'd be coming down either that 5.8 (forgot the name) or the 'optimist'(sp) above the black chim. You may want to read up on these other routes, and take some tie-off slings instead of all sewn.
I remember some lose rock when we rapped down the south side stations.
Good Weather!

Well I'm back from a Yosemite/Tuolomne road trip and it was fantastic. I learned alot about suffering in the heat, had a blast simul-climbing some alpine stuff, made it up El Cap, and did some trad in Tuolomne. I will probably write a trip report when I get some time...

Good rap stations down the route "Instant Clarification" (see Gillett's guide). If your near the top this would be the best way off. Scramble to the South into the notch between the spire and main summit then scramble down some 4th class to the first station, use a rope if its wet. 3 raps will get you to a ledge and easy scrambling. The walk off the back is pretty scary if the grassy ledges are wet, I'd do the raps.
