What would you prefer your partner to wear whilst they climb

Okay, imagine this if you will, partner is climbing above you and you have to keep an eye out for him or preferably her if you`re a bloke. What would you prefer them to wear (or not) to cover up their undercarriage.

Surely there must be some hillarious stories of eyeballs falling out whilst ogling the opposite sex or disgust at your own sex for what they do or do not wear.

A thread like this could well alert those who choose inapropriate clothing or indeed may well just point out what should be worn to attract the opposite sex. (Note to all I aint going anywhere near same sex issues here.)

Just as a starter I prefer any member of the opposite sex from my own gender to wear only striped stretch bike pants. This should be enshrined in climbing legislation as the climbing girls attire of first choice.

On the matter of the fellas the baggier the pair of pants the better, I don`t even wanna know what the boys are doing underneath those duds. But then the girls may feel differently. If I go out to climb with a bloke and I deem him to be wearing unsuitable shorts I may have to rethink my days climbing.

Indeed a lack of undies on guys could well be detrimental to the future prospects of passing on ones genes. Ya gotta keep the family jewels well and truly locked up I say. But then this may well not be such an issue for the members of the fairer sex.

Hope I`m not being too indelicate here.

...Phil...

Harnesses really have a way of pulling even the baggiest pants taught...it's no good...

Guys should never, ever consider wearing tights or anything with lycra in it.

Women should always always consider wearing tights or anything with lycra in it.

Preferably a diaper. This may sound gross, but my partner farts a lot as he constantly eats due to his profession as a chef. Because of this, they are very nasty and wet sounding, so it sounds like he needs to wipe after a fart. A diaper would be a good thing for him. However, I'll trade him in for any young lady with a nice "undercarriage".

The whole "lack of undies" concept I think only exists in Queensland...

Never came across it anywhere else!

Cheers

If I could ever find a partner of any kind I would prefer she be bodacious, of course, and wear only tight lycra or spandex. Although, even baggy sweats & a T-shirt will do as long as she wears nothing under either.

This is a totally foolish post. I'm more concerned about protecting my climber, male or female, as looking up their "undies" male or female.

I went out one time and had a hole in my boxers. Started climbing and ripped my shorts right in the same place as the hole in my boxers. Poor old nat! I spent half my time climbing and the other half trying to shove my nuts back into my shorts! Sorry for the nasty mental images!

Imagine having to belay someone who was naked. People say 'climb naked' a lot, but you think your shorts get stretched tight while climbing! Man the mental picture of looking up at my climbing partner (male) and seeing his ass spread.... I'm going to go vomit.

Well I must say that underwear always compresses the guys, and allows the harness to sit on them and squash. I prefer going comando so the guys can go right out that front pocket. I say gals should wear what is comfortable. I wear mesh shorts as well.

You know patagonia now makes a capilene thong for the ladies... At least it keeps the crack warm, ya know!
I wouldn't mind seeing my man climb in a wifebeater and boxer briefs. Sexy ass. Although rrradam has it pretty good with the sawed off dickies and wifebeater goin'

I say wear nothing when it's possible. I wouldn't go slab climbing or try to up your hardest send, but it is really a fantastic feeling to climb in the buff! You know, breezes blowin, feel the warmth of the sun where it is usually a stranger, no zipper snag, everything gets to kind of open up and breathe freely. It's fantastic.

Belaying a naked climber is another story.
Tip (no pun intended): don't belay naked climbers of the same sex.
Tip: if you have to belay naked climbers of the same sex, wear a sombrero.
Tip: Don't wear a sombrero when belaying a naked climber of the opposite sex.

I think women in sports tops are sexy, love bare midriffs. I like the capri style pants, shorts work too. Also the low ride pants, as I said I like bare midriffs. Most female climbers have incredible stomachs. I am not a spandex or lycra fan for either sex, especially guys. Also, definitely not a fan of any pants that tend to emphasize the package area for guys, add a harness, and it's almost obscene.

I belayed my partner when he decided to take his clothes off and climb naked.

Stop reading now if you don't want to be grossed out:

He's Italian, so he's got hair everywhere. And, well, you know, when you're on belay and you have to look up to see your climber...well, er, yep, I got a full view of his Italian "undercarriage" -- even stuff I never knew we had. And then there was that crazy nutz-ack swinging around. I never knew that you flex your butt when stemming. And, hey, he made it up a 5.7 crack!

Life is good sometimes.

Ah yes. There is nothing like going down to the local climbing gym on a hot day, and taking a gander at the fine lycra clad trad daddies... Not!

Personally I enjoy women who dress to suit a host of occasions, and not simultaneously at that. Simply some conforming attire suits me just fine. As for the lack of "undies" and the swinging of "undercarriage" - do we really need to hear about that?!

Great thread Phil!

Hi,
You guys are all so lucky to have a choice in your climbing apparel.I am FORCED to wear a tungsten and kevlar reinforced "underharness" to keep to keep the procreational apparatus under control.A mind of it's own,you know.Over that, goes the normal cutoffs ,and releive myself of the shirt,if it's warm enough.
Definately spandex for the "fairer sex"!
