I've seen a few pics of this line in Squamish. I know there's got to be a few people out there who have done it... Where is it? Multi-pitch? Level of difficulty? I'd like to climb it one day, it looks like an amazing climb.

Any information?

Hosh.

According to my guidebook:

The Calling: 5.12a
6 pitches, above left of the Alaska Highway.
To paraphrase:
"spectacular line of dihedrals"
"a real test for those up to the task"
"the rock deteriorates near the top"

enjoy.

Of course, silly me...

Its on the Zodiac Wall of the Chief, in Squamish. (not in the route database) Can't really tell you much more than that... You'll have to come on down here and explore.

and by "up there", you really mean "down there", since we're from Alaska and Squamish is south from "here".

The Calling pitch is very strenuous, according to my friend Tom. Bring your endurance.

Alaska Highway + the Calling (aka the Northern Lights) is quite possibly one of the better long routes in the free world.

Triples of thin hand to hand-size cams are required for the spectacular corner of the second pitch of the Calling. My partner linked it with the next pitch at 50 meters and had naught but a sole 0 tcu left when he reached the belay (mostly bolted belays for N.L.).

The entire Northern Lights is the way to do the route, but you can hike up to the Astro Ledge to cut-out Alaska Highway. Be warned though, there is a right way to hike to Astro, and then there is a very wrong way.

PM me if want any more beta.

Look forward to having your lights "well and truely punched out"...
