I was just thinking that it might be useful to us if the climbers age was displayed along with their Q-rating, place of residence and name in the postings. This would help us judge for our selves if we take the advice seriously or not. also, how long the person has been climbing and maybe their level of education would be useful. Cause some of the advice on here seems shakey to even me.

All of the above information is listed and visible IF it is entered in. For privacy purposes though, if people are uncomfortable entering in any of the above informatino they don't have too. That explains why you don't see some/all of the info you're talking about.

I wouldn't implicitly trust anything I read on the Internet. Draw your own conclusions. That said, there are certain individuals on this site and others, whose advice I trust, but that trust was attained over time and bolstered by intelligent posts. Providing they can spell.

Yeah I'm one of those young folks. If people who are just getting into the sport want to post they will but , i think anyways, that they will avoid the techie posts and stay to the funny and unimportant posts. Pride

Considering the original poster is 15 years old and has been climbing for a year, I think this idea should be ignored. Perhaps we should have a certification system, where we send copies of our college degree(s) to an admin., before we're allowed advice-posting priveledges. Seriously though, if you take advice off the interent and get aced because of it, the only fault is your own.

That's not entirely fair, don't you think? Some one may be young, but that doesn't necessarily barr experience. I've climbed with young people and they know what they are doing. I've learned a few things from them as well here and there. The younger generation of climbers are often very up to date on new ideas, concepts, and gear. I don't see anything wrong with age. Good example: beyond_gravity. Steve

How about the hardest climb they've done, and the longest whipper they've taken?

full time, You shouldn't necessarily write them off, you never know. Ask them. I didn't list anything, but if you were to ask... apollo, Not much, 5.10b is as hard as I have ever bothered trying. I don't know if I could do much better than an 11, maybe when I was in prime shape, but not now for sure. Biggest whipper is estimated between 25 and 30 feet. Probably more like 26 (that is what I usualy say, 26 feet) as I was a little more than two full body lengths from my last piece of pro with a little, not much, slack in the line. So, I say 26. Something which I will NEVER repeat again! Cheers everybody!!! Steve
