I was wondering if anyone knows of any good climbing internships. I am willing to go anywhere in North America or the world. This is the last thing i need to complete before i graduate from college. Thanks for the help. PanicFan

Yes, theres a $29/ hr dollar internship offered by 5.10 Unfortunately, its closed to Carbondale students. Just kidding. Whats your major? YOur best bet would be Touch of Nature or at a NP somewhere.

my major is outdoor recreation. a climbing internship would be like working for a climbing outfitter and getting college credits at the same time. you get trained personally on how the organization works and the skills needed to lead climbing trips. most of the time after an internship the organization will offer you a full time job. I am trying to get out of Illinois. Any suggestions?????? Peace, PanicFan

In reply to: no body else knows of an internship based around climbing? Why don't you look up some relevant organizations and send them a cover letter, stating what you are looking for, and a resume. If your major is outdoor rec, perhaps your advisor would be a better employment resource than an online message board.

I am in the same boat. I need an internship for the summer and wanted to learn how to guide rock climbing trips. I am a Wilderness Leadership and Experiential Education major and I found that my professors/advisor are the most help. I have found that it is still hard to get a good internship especially when your only twenty. I would just start contacting people and sometimes they will work with you. That has proven to be true with me anyways.

try climbing guides/outfits- I know that an elite outfitter based in North Conway NH has an "internship" (and yes, those are their words).
