Today I took a trip indoors to a climbing gym called Rock-solid in Poway. This post is to let everyone else know what I found there. The Good: There are a lot of different routes There are different overhangs to include a great roof lead climb. There are 2 different boulders with a small "cave" like section in each. The Bad: 4 out of 5 routes I climbed had loose or spinning holds Many holds on the bouldering area were "skanky" and needed cleaning. The rocks on the floor put a good layer of chalk on my shoes between climbs. Overall I rate this gym a 5 out of 10. After asking the gym attendant to check some of the holds he handed me a wrench and said, "go ahead." I think even the highest traffic climbing areas are taken care of better than this gym. If I could climb there for free I would gladly fix every hold on each route but after paying a 14 dollar entry fee I was a little angered to do so. It is better than not climbing but not worth the money in my opinion. Dave

Hey there. Just to let you know, the gym is now under new management and many things have improved. I hope you give it another shot and if you have any other problems, you can always shoot me a message and let me know. I'll be sure to pass it on to the powers that be.
