I've recently decided that I'm not very interested in Climbing ice. This is a step up from the stance I have previously taken regarding ice: I will NEVER climb ice. With this in mind, I'm sure that in order to accomidate my new found position, someone else has accordingly decided that they no longer wish to climb ice. Assuming that this is true, is anyone out there willing to send me their old ice tools that they have no use for anymore? I'm not too picky, I'll take any tools you don't want anymore... (Beggars can't be choosere, right?) So PM me if you've got a set of tools that you're interested in geting rid of... hosh.

Are you serious? You want people to just up and send you their old gear? I think you'll have better luck if you offer to pay for it. Better yet, rent some gear for a couple trips to determine if you want to get into ice climbing.

If no one sends gear, then I'm in the same boat I'm in now... But if not... And I've been climbing ice for a while now, on our local glacier. I've lead at least one pitch so far, but I've been borrowing tools. It wouldn't be a bad thing if I had my own, but I'm not in a financial place to be able to afford it now, my wife is 5 months pregnant right now and I'm also trying to finance a new rope. By the way, anyone wanna give me a new rope too? hosh.

In reply to: ...I'm also trying to finance a new rope. By the way, anyone wanna give me a new rope too? hosh. I just bought a new rope today, I don't mean to be selfish but I need it. But if you're ever down in the lower 48 I may let you climb on it.

I hope people don't take this too seriously... I'm just having a bit of fun. But if you want to send me a new rope and/or ice tools, I'm not gonna say no... hosh.

Hosh! Wow, I really gotta give it to ya man. What have you gotten free this year so far? Didn't a little boy give you a pair of brand new crampons... Oh yeah, and didn't I tell you I would give you a ticket to Squamish. (Which by the way is going to be sick.) Don't give up Brian!

I tried to use this "give me your old gear" tactic last year. I was also begging to demo ice tools. Poor me. . .single mom. . . can't afford gear. . .I didn't have much luck. But to all of you who do climb ice, if this guy gets tools, you may end up having to wait for a climb because of it. heheh I'm evil! Seriously though, good luck getting what you need. Keep checking E-bay and craigslist. It won't be free and it may not be the shiniest stuff but it will be better than nothing.

Hosh, you are one funny dude. You could always try making some tools: Maybe order some replacement picks and bolt them onto some aluminum tubing for shafts, wrap them with handlebar tape and here comes fun! Cheers, A.W.

Hosh, Try ebay for some used gear. You can probably find something for a good price. A local gear shop that has a consignment shop is a good idea. Sometimes things can be found dirt cheap.

If no one sends gear, then I'm in the same boat I'm in now... But if not... I remember a long time ago reading about a college kid who decided to run a classified ad in a newspaper asking people to send him a single penny to help pay for his tuition. He ended up with somewhere around $20,000 or something ridiculous like that. Hope someone sends you something Hosh! Stovetop
