Can't Post

just FYI, there are a few things wrong in Jack Robert's Colorado Ice book on the locations of some of the ice climbs in Redstone.

The pencil is located correctly on the map, but, the approach description says its on the east side of the highway. its on the west side.

The Drool is located on the west side of the highway. The verbal description is right, but, he has it wrong on the map.

The Redstone Pillar is located on the east side of the highway. The verbal description is correct, but, he has it on the wrong side of the highway on the map.

The False Drool is also correct in the verbal description but is on the wrong side of the highway on the map.

Also, if you want to climb the Redstone slabs, drive up the Crystal River Park road. it wanders through a residential area. Try and follow the road, aiming right for the climbs. You'll come to a switchback that has been plowed out pretty good. We talked to a local and he said that they plow this out for ice climbers to use as a parking space (just don't block the fire hydrant). His name was Chuck (i believe) and he lives in one of the houses right there. Great guy, a climber, and knows a lot about the conditions in the area. If you climb the slabs he'll probably meet you on your way out to see what it was like, hehe.

anyway, hope that helps others have a more successful day than us.
