All right.... This is just a post for an overall general opinion on road tripping. Just wondering what you all thought is decent to go on a 3-4 month road trip across the U.S. Things such as..... What do you bring? (tent, sleeping bag, foodstuffs, climbing gear, etc.) Money? ($1,00; $5,000; $10,000; $50,000) Good places to hit. (Yosemite, Red Rocks, RRG, Gunks) Dog (Y or N)??? Vehicle. (Car, Van, Station Wagon, Truck, Space Shuttle) Etc. (etc.) Not looking for a complete list from anybody. Just little things that people found helpful/ annoying along the way. I'm starting off in California. Maybe J Tree.

Are you reall gonna do this or is this a troll? If not a troll, where do you live?, and things to think about are:What do you already have(vehicel, equipment, buds to share expenses)? Where are you getting this money from? You work steadily I presume, if so, you can just get off for a couple months? You ought to be able to sabe this stuff a little bit more before jumping out into it. How old are you? I can tell you from personal experience that being young and ready to go somewhere quick and by yourself is NOT a good idea...just ask border patrol about el piche gringo tonto who tried to go to Mexico by himself for a few months.lol

Well, I own my own vehicle, I have climbing gear and I'm not trolling. I've been climbing for many years (+10) and I have done many little week long road trips in the past but I have never just taken off to live on the road for a while. Although it doesn't initially appeal to me (I really don't like camping) there is that little thing inside me that is telling me to take this road trip before I'm too old and regret it. I live in So Cal right now and I work as a bartender and a part time flight instructor and part time student. I'm 27 so I have this "running out of time" fear going on. Plus I haven't taken a real vacation in about 5 years because of school and work. I thought this might be a nice little thing to do before applying for a real flying job (lots of hours and crappy pay). So I think I'm going to do it but I just want to make it go as smooth as possible (hence the research).

Personally I think research ruins half of it. Just get in your car and go. Bring your gear etc. and decide where you wanna go on tthe road. Yous should have one or two back up plans but that's about it ...

Sweet. My first post. I'm an out of work pilot and I saw that BS and Chupa are both pilots. I'm in a different career field but it's good to see other people out there like me. :P :P :o

In reply to: What do you bring? (tent, sleeping bag, foodstuffs, climbing gear, etc.) Money? ($1,00; $5,000; $10,000; $50,000) Good places to hit. (Yosemite, Red Rocks, RRG, Gunks) Vehicle. (Car, Van, Station Wagon, Truck, Space Shuttle) the more you bring from 1, the less you can 2. The more 2 you have, the more 3 you can visit. But the more you take 1, the larger 4 you will need. Larger 4 will spend more 2.
