mmm this is a hiatus period for the thread again! i think we need some more trip planning to galvanize the crowd here...where is our certified planner GD anyway? and the certified photographer? Chrtur is lost at his ski resort (i mean conference), but you, heiko, you're the only hope for some replacement there!..

Though I saw both Taz & Paolo online today, I think they ought to be in Spain right now. Maybe they will bring in some pix these days...

No trip planning for me. The one and only plannable is already booked :D 16 days, counting... Oh my gosh, this will be GREAT! Sun, warmth, climbing, Italian wine, food, ... *sigh*

Glad to know I was missed! :D

Spain was unbelieveable! Weather in the low 20's with a nice spring breeze to cool things off. Not a single cloud in the sky! Paolo and I climbed some really wonderful routes. Didn't get to any trad in the end, as we spent most of our time marveling over the weather and being able to touch rock without freezing. We cragged hard every day though, and Paolo even got on some 7b's (though the consequences weren't too pretty). I stuck to my 6a/b range and still managed to get my ass kicked (nothing like the first time out in a season to remind you how much you actually suck). The wonderful people of El Berro remembered us and fed us well. We managed to avoid most of the chupitos (shots) this time... though not all. :D

Back in Belgium now    , with 3 Italian climbers flying in tonight... probably hooking up with UA and Max over the weekend for some cold, miserable Freyr action...

oh, c'mon, freyer is not cold and miserable (yeah, spain... you travel too much!) - you should have seen it last sunday - our fingers didn't even get cold once, we only had to struggle with a couple of icicles on top of routes and in the cracks on 5 anes - and with climbers throwing these icicles on our heads...

Sure! This place was orphaned without you!

20°C a dream... I guess even the gym was colder yesterday

I'm still fighting my drippin' nose and the constant coughing :? Hence not even a heroic 'I did the blue route' for me.

Just did some easy stuff and watched my brother climbing circles around me. Odd thing, in the past my motivation would have been to climb harder than him, last year I tried to keep track, now I'm training like an idiot not to get dropped as the primary belay slave... damn youth!

Hi all!

UA, I'm certainly rockclimbing these days, what were you thinking?! ;) Went to the gym this week, just to see the female Italian champion taking laps on severely sandbagged (of course!) 7a's. This didn't motivate me very much I must admit. I discovered that I have 6c-power for about 5 meters, after which my system shuts down and I faint

I hope chrtur is not coming back very soon, I hate his pictures

And GD and Paolo: no comment. Especially Paolo. No comment. No comment AT ALL.

Heiko :D

Well I have been to busy with things that I forgott to take any pictures. But I have five days of skiing and also a nightrace from yesterday on sledges starting from 1800 m and going down to 900 m. That was one of the funniest things I have done in a long time. Now back to some serious stuff again, with mexican foodparty this evening.

However I see that you people have been quite busy :D

Another one, for Julia (this time I even managed to carry the stuff up a route ;) :

Obviously it was a super hard climb, I barely had time to scratch my ear while posing for the pic

Btw thanks ejlim for enduring the sight of my bum for that long until I finally had the gear fiddled in. ;)

BTW, Taz, how did your we-both-quit-smoking-after-this-weekend plans come out? I managed to survive without a smoke for two weeks now

Heiko finally there are some climbing pictures coming from your direction but I think that it was still quite cold.... Yesterday we had a nice day with sci-alpinism above the clouds to get some Sun, the first hour was in complete dark. Then we also tried to do an emerging sled with good success.

Just try to keep up, ok?

Any word on if that climber survived his fall by the way? Or news of what happened?

So at least she was in control over one of her addictions

To be honest, I don't think I'll make it any longer. It's not that I couldn't stand the urge to smoke, it's just so... don't know... part of me. Common, that's 19 years of my life. Imagine, I never had sex without the cigarette afterwards

In fact, all it needs to get me back is a moment which seems cause enough to light one. Or a non-smoking girl to convince me not to do so... Until then I'll be a... standby-smoker?!? :D

Andermatt: Not been there but I know I lot of Swedish people who goes there. It is a very nice place for going offpist since it is a small place with usual very good snow conditions. This is a place to visit according to a lof of skiers.

Zermatt: I have been skiing there several times but mainly only using the lifts in that area, but you could easily hike up within the system, I have seen lot of people doing that. But ususal this area is not the most nicest one according to me.

Verbier: Nothing there.

I will speak with some other people and try to come back with more information.

Update for Verbier:

I got three suggestions:

Tete De Payanne:

Take the Grand-Tsai cabin up to Bruson, traverse then torwards Six Blanc until no more gliding is possible. Take on skins and go torwards the pass up to Six Blanc, follow the ridge after the pass and you reach Tete De Payanne. It should take around one hour. 1400 m of skiing down but look close on the map to not get wrong since then you will need to hike again.

Pralong:

Take the way down behind the fort and keep right, then go up torwards the pass of Fentre D'Alleve. Then ski down torwards Pralong and with a nice food place in the end. 1500 m of skiing.

Fionnay:

Same as above but go torwards Rosablanche and just turn at the top of. Then ski down torwards Fionnay with 1500 m of skiing. There is an alternative in the end to cross the Parenn glacier.

They are rated to be 2-3 of maximum 5 in skiing cabilities of a skiing friend.
