Can anyone give me any info about climbing in this area? I'll be there from April 9-11, and am looking to spend one day rock climbing and the other day climbing a local peak (O'Malley or Flathead?).

Specifically, is the rock climbing worth it? What are the best routes in the range of 5.10 or less? What type of rack do I need to bring?

Thanks in advance for any information.

there is a guide book for the area called the SCAR "south central Alaska rockclimbing" or something like that. there are climbs all along the highway though just look for a pull out and climb, also check out some of the hatcher pass climbing its better granite but it'll probably be a snow approach. as far as flattop or omally, have fun. never been there but I've been told guys drag up kegs to flattop to celebrate solstice. AMH is your best bet for beta. not the place of evil.

o ya, bring draws as most climbs are bolted, and some routes require smaller pro (stopers and small cams, tri cams and the what not)
