gonna be in alaska (anchorage area) for a couple of weeks and was planning on spending a week in the chugach state park. has anyone done much climbing there? any recommendations? i've been looking at a few of the peaks (suicides, etc) but haven't found anything too technical. i'm gonna be soloing so i'd like to keep glacier travel to a mininum, but would be willing to solo up to 5.7/AI4. thanks.

There are many many many peaks to be solod in the chugach. All of the front range peaks can be climbed without ropes. There are some great books to get as well including 55 hikes in Southcentral Ak and 50 hikes in the Chugach. Check here for pictures and info on the hikes. http://www.alaskamountainforum.com/...p=list_content&eid=3 I have done about 40 peaks in the Chugach but hang at at AMF usually. Not a big Alaska base here at RC.com (although I lub you rc.com) :)
