Scott Silverman, Chairman of the Board of VeriChip Corporation, has proposed implanting the company's RFID tracking tags in immigrant and guest workers. He made the statement on national television on May 16.
Silverman was being interviewed on "Fox & Friends." Responding to the Bush administration's call to know "who is in our country and why they are here," he proposed using VeriChip RFID implants to register workers at the border, and then verify their identities in the workplace. He added, "We have talked to many people in Washington about using it...."

...uhhh...wouldn't it be easier to give them amnesty and a drivers liscense? I know it works becuase when I get a speeding ticket in upstate NY, I get the bill sent to me in MD and if I don't pay it my tags get suspended. See....they must know how to find me and where I am.

AHAHAHAHAA!

Yeah you're right, our dog's got one in her neck!

The issue, as usual, is not so much what information is attached to the chip, but how it's used and by whom.

Here in the UK we have a handy bit of legislation called the Data Protection Act which gurantees us the right to see what information anyone holds about us, on demand. It covers almost everything right down to CCTV footage (you can demand a copy of any that you appear in) and you don't have to give a reason.

Is there anything similar in the states?

...heh...and to lure all the illegals so we can put a chip in them we could offer the hot dirty wet backs a nice "shower" after they have completed their illegal trek over the border at some military base....wait...I think thats been tried before?

I know the solution to this whole dilemma. We should just keep fucking up our country until it is no longer attractive for illegals to come over. Problem solved.

You northerners have f--- it up plenty by migrating to the region.

They were all volunteers, are regarded as heros, and their names will live on, revered as having given the penultimate sacrifice. ;-)

Not me man, I knew I could never take it. Too hot, too many churches, too many chaw-droolin' crackers...nice beaches though. ;-)

First pets, then people. It's all about doing it incrementally so that society as a whole feels comfy with the idea.

This is basically the type of technology that will be used for future commerce as well. Fits neatly into the eschatological scenario I continue to bring up.
