I'm planning to be in Croatia within the next week or so and am hoping to do some sport climbing for a few weeks (and/or thereabouts). I don't know much about the best areas but am keen for info and partners. I climb in the high 6, low 7 range and love pushing the grade and having fun!! I'd love to hear from anyone interested in meeting up or just passing on some info (best places to go, etc.). I can be reached here or directly at rockyogi@gmail.com; cheers!!

Paklenica is a must. I'm going also in July..just don't know when over the weekend. If you go to paklenica bring swim shorts, wait nvm..its all nude beaches...No swim shorts needed. You will melt btw...

Have fun though!

croatia will be hot as hell, but it can be done, especially in paklenica (one side of the canyon is almost always in shade or at least not under direct sunlight).

anyway, other places to check out would be trogir, limski kanal, omiš, brač,

slovenia is definitely better for climbing right now than croatia. we have crags that are either on a higher altitude or in the shad or both. meanint that they are cooler.

anyway, if you want to come, drop me a line and maybe we can work something out.

Hey overlord, well looks like i'm going to be in zadar around july 11th and i'll decide about climbing here in croatia at that point. but slovenia is a definite possibility for me as the country sound amazing anyway. i'm going to be in the area until the end of august. do you live there, then?

re. Paklenica - Does anyone know what is the best/cheapest accommodation without camping gear (i've been travelling for a while) and/or to hook up with other climbers (i'm travelling solo)? Is there a well-known climber's hostel or something of the sort?

yes, i live in slovenia and im pretty much free until august 25th.

there are many options for living in and around zadar, but i dont believe that youll find anything cheap because its full tourist season. you shoudlnt have much problems with partners though. paklenica is always crowded. one place to ask would be the the iglu port store in Stari Grad. the street adress is "Franja Tudzmana 14". its near the gas pump; its open 9:00-12:00 and 15:00-20:00 every day.

Thanks a lot for your quick replies and all the info. Im heading to Starigrad this afternoon and will keep my fingers crossed. There are no shortage of tourists here in Split and pretty much everywhere else ive been so far on the coast so im a bit uncertain about what ill find there but going to check it out anyway!

do you have a direct email address if i should happen to find myself in slovenia or is conversing on this forum best?

Cheers and thanks again!!
