http://www.supertopo.com/images/bachar.jpg For those of you who don't already know, climbing legend John Bachar suffered multiple spinal fractures in a tragic auto accident that killed Steve Karafa (President of climbing shoe manufacturer Acopa). More info here. A website has been set up for donations to help cover the costs of John's medical bills. It's important to note that for legal and tax purposes, we simply can't call this a raffle, but rather a donation that allows you to automatically be enrolled into a special prize drawing. -- I made note of this in red text on the {* Make A Donation *} page. -Tim

I just added a discussion board with a special forum for Steve and John stories. I figure that this is yet another great way to show our support, and hopefully get John laughing sooner than later...

Hi Tim -- just a heads-up: I tried to donate 3 times, and each time I received a "re-enter the security code" message from paypal. (I had entered it correctly each time... even did the audio check once). Seems to be caught in some type of loop. I gave up after a while, and will retry in a week or so. Posting here so as to re-bump this. Dan

OK -- switched to Firefox, and that security-code loop problem resolved itself. Thanks, Dan

A Paypal technician has helped Tim resolve any issues with Internet Explorer and the problems associated with making donations on the site. I've just dropped a donation in via IE and had no problems whatsoever.

Overnight, we received donations from FRANCE, ITALY and the UK, as well as additional inquiries from Australia... I would love to see this map solid gold, so if you live in a state that's not colored in, please consider donating ASAP!!! If you're a member of a local or regional climbing club, then consider challenging the other members of your club to donate, or even make a group contribution. Furthermore, threaten your partners with "penalty slack" if you don't see their names appearing on the {Entry Numbers} page soon. ;) http://bachar.gr-outdoors.net http://bachar.gr-outdoors.net/images/us-map.jpg
