Where to get cams reslung?

Just wondering where I could get my cams reslung (and nuts). I'd like to take most of my nuts off wires and put them on slings, potentially.

I'd also like to sling my cams on longer runners and rack them on a single biner potentially. Just something I'm thinking about. Where would I go to have this done? Standard climbing shop?

I have been very happy with the work Yates has done. They will sling to whatever length you want, the turn around is quick and the prices are pretty reasonable.

I haven't used the service, but Black Diamond has information about reslinging camalots on their FAQ page:

Q. How can I get my Camalot slings replaced?
A. You can send them in to our Warranty Department. We replace worn triggers. Slings cost $5.00 and new trigger kits are $6.00. Send to:

BD Warranty/Repair
2084 East 3900 South
SLC, UT 84124

Please include a note and your contact info. We accept Visa, MasterCard or Discover, money orders and personal checks.

Why on earth would you want to change from wires to slings? On any piece that is too small to be manipulated directly using the fingers, stiff wires are the way to go. Your second will thank you too.

Depending on what type of cams you have, you could have two turns of webbing that would allow it to be short or extended long. This would work on newer Camalots but not the older ones.

Most cam companies will do their own re-slinging pretty cheap.

Metolius recently did all mine with their new spectra slings, much better.

That's true. And if you want the cam sling to be just like the original, it is probably a good choice. However, the OP wanted to put longer slings on the cam. For semi-custom work like this, I would still recommend Yates.

Back to the original topic, as another poster mentioned, a double sling is a nice option for Aliens and newer Camalots.

On cams that don't have a large thumb loop like Aliens and C4's, if you wanted to put a longer than standard sling on it you could go for it, but of course the cam would hang too low on your rack. A solution to this would be to add a small loop of light accessory cord through the eye, solely for the purpose of racking the piece.
