I was wondering who else here has made it to the top of Devils Tower WY. I did when I was 10. I took the Durrance Route to the top which is the easist route on the tower.

Durrance in 1991.
It was a very cool personal thing to me because when I was about 13 and just getting in to climbing, I visited there with my family, saw all the "cool" climbers and said, "I'm gonna come here and climb this some day..."

When we got to the top we found a buffalo skull up there 3 years ago.

Best question
"whats on the top"
-Theres actually a natural hot spring that runs up through the center so its nice to relax at the top.
I love how you could completely make up any answer to any question and they'll believe it

Lol, so true. I always tell them that it's like the Galapagos, and similar species fill completely different environmental niches. There are things like carniverous chipmunks that hunt in packs up there. I'm not so sure they actually believe me, but it's good fun nonetheless. I usually feel like a jerk and tell them I'm kidding.

2004 by way of Assembly Line. I was at DT for a week and wanted to get on top at least once. But, I found getting down from the top to be a bit of a waste of time and didn't bother again.
