Shot these this weekend. Tung taking falls on Red Hot 5.12a in New Jack City. What do you all think?

Sharp, good colour, nicely framed (the first one, anyway), but your timing is off. I think for a "falling" shot to really work, it should catch that "oh, shit" moment just as the climber parts company with the wall (preferably more than a foot or two above the last pro). It's all about forcing the viewer to imagine, just as the climber (err, faller) does, what's about to happen, not what has already happened with a perfectly safe outcome.

This image is always what comes to mind when I think of the "perfect" falling photo (Julian Saunders on Shattering Reflections on Narcissism (29 or 5.fricking hard):

I don't get all of the static images that have been popping out.

Your climber is obviously in motion. May I reccomend slowing down your shutter speed. I've taken shots of military helicopters that look as if they are suspended, motor off, in mid air.

Your 1st shot is composed well. But to me there is nothing going on in it. It's static, it's boring. We've all seen it before.

Don't hate me, but I'm giving my opinion.

I think it was Bresson who said, "If you saw it, you missed it"

I'll say it again, butt shot, don't hate me either.

Now where is that shot looking down on the falling trad climber with the skirt of trad gear floating up around his waist. That is to me is the ultimate falling shot. The Julian Saunders fall shot by Mr. Carter is also right there too.

Thanks comments everyone. Yeah their butt shots, I didn't have another anchor in a good shooting position to get up on and look down onto this route so I settled for the next best thing which was some rocks that got me up off the ground and off to the side some so I wasn't looking straight up or directly behind. I was hoping for that profile shot took these photos a split second too late into the fall. I'll keep everyone comments in mind for better "falling" shots next time.
