With the cold weather coming it's time to head to the indoor walls. Will occasionally be in Maine, mostly in the Skowheagan area.
Wondering if there are any indoor walls nearby?
Thanks,
SJ

there isn't a gym near bar harbor. the closest one to BH is the one at umaine. the sunday river adventure center is probably the closest gym, but the maine rock gym in portland is the best. there is also a gym in unity, i think, that i've heard is okay. never been there, and it's would be a long haul from skow-vegas.

The gym in Unity, Rock Rats, recently closed.

The one at UMaine...Maine Bound...I worked at for 5 years. Good place, lots of bouldering routes up to about v5ish. We just had a comp there in early december, and I belive most of the comp routes are still up, though they may be in the process of bringing them down now.

The Portland Rock Gym is supposed to be pretty good. They have a lot of very tallented climbers in there setting routes. Luke Parady, Dave Graham, Joe Kinder....they all makes their rounds through there. You can expect to find plenty of hard stuff to climb.

Orono is probably the cheapest for a month long pass, no rental fees on harnesses and belay devices, free belay clinics, just not as big as the PRG.

If your gonna be in the Skow though, I think the PRG would be closer.

Cheers,
Jim

I used to set and work for the one in Bethel. Not the best but some cool stuff if you look around and hunt. Ask for Yves pronounced eve. There are a lot of cool people that hang around there and some quality climbers...mainly cause the routes downgraded from their actual levels.
