I went last year and had a really great time. I don't think I'll be able to go this year, though. If you go, and aren't too thrilled about camping (it was pretty darn windy last year!), the Bonnie Springs Hotel is close, clean, and reasonable. Anne

It falls on the "working Friday" week of my 9/80 schedule, so I'm on the fence. Thinking about it, tho.

I want to go, I have yet to actually make it to any of them before. I was trying to go last year but couldn't make it work out. Everyone keeps talking about how great it is so I think I've definitely got to check it out this year. Jason

It might be a bit soon for people to be making hard plans, but me thinks that I would like to drive out there on say, that Thursday and stay a few days after it is all said and done (maybe Tuesday/Wednesday). Does anyone else have a similar quasi-plan from the Boulder/Denver/Springs corridor?

Got my clinics scheduled today. Been three years in a row now. Always a good time. It appears as though there won't be as many of the big name pros out this year. Then again we'll see what actually takes place. The website this year doesn't tell who's teaching what. Love taking the clinics from Vera S. P & Jim D last year.

But check out RED ROCK Station CASINO. It is just in side of Vegas on the corner of w. Charleston & the Hwy 215. I stayed there this last may and things were very nice. I don't know what the rooms are going for currently, but you might be able to get a deal. Besides its closer than many of the other hotels.

It's very early in the scheduling process. Many pros haven't signed on yet. They tend to trickle and sign on all winter which makes it difficult to schedule them. In years past they obtained the clinic instructor first and then put the course on the web. This forced administrators to wait a long time before letting people know what they could take. This year they listed the courses first and are finding the athletes to teach the courses second. It makes it easier from an administrative perspective. And it makes it easier for people to sign up for clinics. There will be lots and lots of big names there. Most of those you saw over the past few years will return, as well as a few new athletes. Sounds like you're tied in with Mgear. And as always even the pros are procrastinators like the rest of us climbers.

I was out there last weekend. We had lows in the teens. It kinda felt like sleeping in your freezer. The days were sunny and the rock was warm so it turned out to be a good weekend. I'm signed up, but hoping for warmer weather.

I'm thinking about going. Need to double check the dates and make sure I'm not busy with something else. Never been before so I'm hoping I can make it.

I definitely want to go... My wife and I are making flight hotel and car arrangments as I type. It seems a lot of the clinics that I want to take are already full. Is there a lot to do besides the clinics? I may just get the festival pass for my first time. Is anyone else going from the northeast area? Hope to see ya all there. Sean

Sean One thing that has happened in the past with the Rendezvous is that those who only come to the evening festivities find many of the long classic routes in the canyons uncroweded. This is an amazing find anytime in March, but even more amazing due to the fact that so many climbers are visiting the canyon that weekend. The clinics -- which run about four hours -- cut deeply into a climber's ability to get out all day. This equals a lack of lines on popular long routes! If you don't want to get out into the hills, there are tons of events at Spring Mountain Ranch during the Rendezvous. Lots of competitions, slideshows, and games... In other words, the answer is yes, there are a lot of other things to do aside from clinics. Jason

I was talking to the organizers of the event yesterday and they said that it is filling up rapidly. There are roughly 24 more spots for the beginner package left. If you know anyone that is new and would like to take the beginner workshop, weekend clinics, festival all access, and get a load of gear for $349 you should send them to the site to get signed up. It’s a good deal and I’m sending a couple of my new climbing buddies there to check it out. http://www.mountaingear.com/rr07/ http://www.mountaingear.com/rr07/FridayIntro.aspx Jared

It's a loooooooong trip from Florida, but I'll be there for the Rendezvous and for some climbing after! The weather out there looks like it has been awesome, and I'm really inspired by the people teaching the two clinics I got, Greg Child and Julia Niles. They both look like super rock ninjas. I'm breaking a really long posting hiatus on rc.com to write this, too. None of my climbing friends are traveling with me, so hopefully I can make some new friends to hit some sport routes with in the afternoons after the clinics.

hey ... what do they do if there isn't a teacher for a clinic by now? Am I at risk for not getting my clinic taught? (excited for the Sharma-taught redpoint clinic tho. It'll be good to learn how to send the hard problems from such an accomplished redpointer.)
