Hey guys, I am going to be a backcountry intern in Payette National Forest this summer. I am under the impression that I will be working primarily in the Frank Church Wilderness and the Krassel Ranger district (area NE from McCall). I have searched all over the internet and am having trouble finding info on climbing and mountaineering opportunities in the area. Could you guys help me out? I have heard the rock is not so great, is that true? Thanks.

There is a ton of good rock in that area, and even more just an hour and 1/2 in almost every direction. This is a great state to live/climb in. pm me if you want more info.

Two Words: Slick Rock Ap lake fork from McCall on the lick creeks summit road. Give patty my best and don't let her push you around. Ha. The Frank is pretty sparse for good roack and all undeveloped. The Salmon River Canyon is better, esp up stream from riggins, there are routes online. Adventuresome climbing on granite and some bolted stuff too. Good Luck!
