Well I've finally decided to retire most of my workhorse QDs. I've been using Metolius draws for the last few years and they're all but sawed through now.
Anyhow, I just put in a prodeal for 12 new spirit express draws. I received an email sating that they were on backorder. Because I'm getting such a great deal I dont want to pester the company. My question is has anyone else dealt with this? Have any stores seen regular spirit orders come in?
Anyhoo, Smith climbers prepare to see more new draws up on the heavy traffic hardlines.

The great prices you pay on your prodeals means that you are the last one to recieve your goods.

Prodeals are awesome but, they are the last ones shipped out. Don't be surprised if in large orders some of the items are simply unavailable.

Still certainly worth it though.

I tried to buy those draws and it seems like everyone is back ordered. I gave up and bought some omega pacific jc/d'oval draws.

I started a little ebay business trying to provide fellow outdoor people with access to gear at close to retail or cheaper with no shipping costs. I can get about anything. The spirit draws I can get to you for roughly 21 a piece. I would also reccomend looking at the BD positron similar style biner keylock and all. I can get those draws for roughly 17. All with no shipping and handling. I can also get those biners in blemishes. Don't want this to be a business post. I am making little to no money on most of this really just trying to break even and provide a service to fellow climbers.

REI Seattle (has the largest climbing selection in the chain) hasn't had them in a LONG TIME. Not sure what the deal is but they're not as readily available as they used to be. 2007 product update?

if you are on prodeal, and are asking these sort of questions/talking openly about said prodeal, esp. one as finicky as petzl, you dont deserve the deal.

Wasn't asking whether I deserved the deal or not. But thanks for pointing that out. Believe me, I am very thankful for the deals I receive. It's not like I'm screwing them in any sort of way. My company happens to move a good deal of their products, having a better knowledge of them only helps us communicate the benefits of using petzl products with their other users, as well as promote the brand. There is no silence policy with my company or Petzl. However, I do share the sentiment that these deals should be kept moderately quite in order to appease those who pay full price. The fact that prodeals exist for those working in the outdoor industry in wildly known.
The question I was trying to get it is this, what is going on with Petzl spirits? I know there is a high demand for them, but I've been hearing stories of back orders for quite some time now. Have any stores gone a long time without receiving their orders, then start to see regular shipments? I just dont want to settle with positrons, i know their almost the same, but there's something about spirits I just cant quite articulate.

Frankly I haven't looked at the Spirits since BD started making their own nochless nose for a lot cheaper.

I also prefer wire gates at the end of my draws so their bent gates have zero interest for me.

I waited 4 months for my pro-deal, well worth it though.

Do you have a good relationship with your inside rep? I've cultivated a good working friendship with all my reps so that I can ask them these questions, and also pick their brains about stuff I haven't had the ability to use yet.

You might consider calling your inside guy and just asking if they have an ETA for the spirit draws. They won't get pissed.

I think 1-2 dollars on top of retail with free shipping is a more than reasonable mark up. If you are like me and no where near a shop that sells gear this is not a bad option. Like I said the auctions that I list I do have to mark up just to cover ebay costs. I did not post this to strum up business just saying that these biners are available if you choose to pay retail.

I never pay more than 20%off of retail, with free shipping and no taxes. Good luck bucko.

Hopefully, for you, there are other people out there as ignorant as you. Most of us know of this thing called "The Internet", it greatly facilitates comparison shopping. Another nice thing is that it’s easy to find a company within the masses that won’t charge you tax no matter what state you live in. And finally, most offer free shipping on orders of $50 or so...

Here for example, is the page from Spadout, listing a site where you can get the draws cheaper than you listed, no tax, and free shipping if you get at least three. And that’s without a sale. Give it a week or two, and you’ll probably find it cheaper. You can even have Spadout notify you if the price drops below a certain limit.

http://www.spadout.com/store.php?stpr_id=16

Like unrooted said, you can get most items at least 20% off if you shop for it.

Good luck with your “business”.

Hopefully this will be the last thing said on this item. I agree with everyone here that I like all of you try to get everything for at least 20% off. I also agree with you that most places or a significant portion offer free shipping over 50. My point was more that these biners are not backordered all across the country as the original question was discussing. My point was more that if one is willing to pay retail or close to retail they can be found. I did not want to strum up business. But many people do not want to spend the time looking for specials. I personnally do and I highly encourage everyone get as much for as little as possible.
