Hey, I was wondering how much snow is still on the ground in the gunks. Is snowmelt pouring down the climbs? You think this weekend is gonna be any good, or should I head for seneca?

can't help you with the gunks, but I've been to Seneca at the end of Feb, and a couple of weeks ago too. Conditions there are superb, and this weekend's gonna be WARM!!!

Gunks will be wet. If you have the choice you should probably head to Seneca.

can't say anything on the gunks either, but I was at seneca last week and it was sweet. Dry, warm, and no bugs!

Hey Joe - Was in the gunks on Sat and had a great day. Hope you decided to go up. Some snow at the base of the climbs but just hopped over it. Should have stayed for the weekend. Tony. PS pm tradrenn and ask him where he ended up this weekend.....

The Gunks don't come in until the third week of August. Then the place becomes unclimbable the second week in September. It's a very short season. And even during those three weeks it can be unclimbable. It's really hit or miss. Best, Kim

hey Joe, I was going to go to the gunks this weekend but the forecast looked poor. 60% chance of rain Saturday and high of 51 degrees? Sounds like a lot of wet rock and not much sun to dry things out. Chance of rain is low at Seneca until later Sunday and highs of 67 degrees. That's where I'm going.

For anyone who's interested...the weather was great this last weekend. There's almost no snow left. Sat. was sunny and like 50ish, sun. was cooler, like 40 and windy. It was a good weekend.
